     Her cavalier attitude towards ending his life startled Joshua.It unsettled him.Her face was so calm,so composed, that it was actually more bone-chilling than the brutal beating he'd received.He knew she'd been trying to communicate with him-could almost literally read the words in her eyes-yet all he could think about was how she'd lied to him.

He'd done everything for her and she'd repaid him with pain.

She'd used him.

He looked at her.

He was nothing to her.

"I'll kill him,Sebastian,''she was saying.

Nothing.

''Oh,I have no intention of killing him,Bella,''Sebastian replied,baring his sharp white teeth in a gross travesty of a smile that nearly made Bella shiver.''I only wish to gauge your reaction...when I do this.''

She watched impotent rage and horror as Sebastian lifted Joshua's head swiftly by his long hair.Joshua put up a token resistance,but it was no match for the iron grip around his neck.

His eyes frantically held Bella's.

This is it.

The end.

Joshua's savage bellow was a loud and torturous sound as Sebastian expertly sliced him open.

''NO!!''Bella's voice cracked in hysteria and she lunged forward.

An earsplitting bullet sound rang in the air.

Bella skidded to a halt.

She blanched.

Her legs turned to gelatin.

''One more step and you're dead,Bella,''Penelope snapped from behind her.''The next bullet will go to your head.''

Bella swallowed as she felt the barrel of the gun rest against the back of her head.She raised her hands slowly in surrender.

Joshua.

She looked at him and her heart clenched.

He was in so much pain.

Mon Dieu.

The gash on his shoulder was visibly deep.

His breathing was ragged,his expression insolent,his complexion flushed.

But his eyes..his eyes were filled with rage.

He was destructively livid and she knew it.

''Penelope,''Bella said,her breathing heavy with panic.''Penny,put the gun down,you don't know what you're doing.''

''SHUT UP!!!!!!''Penelope screamed.''Shut up or I'll blow your fucking head off.''

''For fuck's sake,Penelope,listen to me,''Bella said through gritted teeth.''Can't you see he's controlling you?What'd he do to make you fucking go along with this?You're not like this,Penn,you're-''

''What?I'm what?''Penelope interrupted with a dry laugh.''I'm stupid,right?Dumb?Mousy?Not as beautiful as you are,huh,Bella?Undeserving of Joshua,huh?That's what you think,right?"
