"Finish your food,Bella. You'll be late for school,"Aunt Ignacia said, setting more plates on the table. Her blue floral gown billowed around her as she moved sending wafts of lavender scents to Bella as she watched her.

"I'm not hungry,Aunt Ig-"

"Eat,Isabella. Now. " Aunt Ignacia had paused,a plate in hand,to send a warning glare Bella's way.

Bella glared back challengingly, her brown eyes openly displaying her displeasure with being ordered about.

Nevertheless, she poked a dry chicken leg with a fork and lifted it to face level.A look of disgust fell over her face. She hated chicken. She gingerly took a bite and chewed. It tasted like sawdust in her mouth.
Bleuch.

Aunt Ignacia smiled.
"There. Now,that wasn't so bad,was it?"

Bella gave her a mock grin.

Aunt Ignacia laughed and shook her head. Then her head cocked to the stairs as she watched a figure walk down the stairs slowly.

"Bash,"she said.

He nodded once, and proceeded to sit at the table. He was wearing a black hoodie and tattered jeans.A silver chain dorning the cross of Jesus Christ as a pendant was situated on his wrist. His hair was wild and unruly, and as dark as the night sky.

Don't look up.Don't look up,Bella chanted to herself repeatedly.

She refused to look at him,for whenever she did,she felt an unearthly pull.A pull that made her never want to look away.

"Where were you last night, boy?I stayed up all night waiting for you,"her aunt said chidingly.

Sebastian didn't reply.Bella hadn't expected him to.He never felt the need to answer Aunt Ignacia's interrogations.Either he didn't care that she was worried or he just didn't care about her at all.

He reached for a glass of water at the same time Bella reached for hers. She gasped as their fingers grazed, and they both drew back like they'd been electrocuted.

Bella looked up at him.

Holy cowbirds,she thought.

They stared at each other, his cold eyes boring into her brown ones.

Bella stared back, refusing to be the first to look away again. This had been going on for months,it had to stop.

"Bella?Bella!"

She turned sharply to look at her aunt.

"I said get up,you'll be late for school," Aunt Ignacia said.

Bella nodded slowly and turned again to look at Sebastian, but he was already trudging up the staircase, a glass of water in hand.

Dang it,she thought.

She'd lost the stare battle again, for the one millionth time.

Bella vowed she wouldn't lose the next one.
