heY HEY MOTHERFUCKERS I HAD MY FIRST SCHOLASTIC BOWL MEET TODAY
if you don't know what scholastic bowl is then its basically trivia,, very similar to jeopardy except with teams
and theres two teams which are the varsity team and junior varsity team (jv for short) and im on the jv team and im fuCKING HAPPY
BOTH THE JV AND VARSITY TEAM WON
im smug about it because on the other school's team was this aSSHOLE who used to go to my church and would always make fun of me because i was the only one who didn't go to his school ((the only other people were homeschooled but since i went to a rivaling school he chose to make fun of me)
bUT BOTH TEAMS BEAT HIS SCHOOL SO FUCK HIM
im also frustrated because there was a question which was,
"spell the word for the adjective version of advantage"
and I KNEW IT
so i was just scribbling down the answer frustratedly ((which was advantageous)) since i knew the answer and no one else got it and my friend next to me,, she just looked at me and whispered
"chill"
i aLSO KNEW ANOTHER QUESTION NO ONE ELSE GOT
it was "where did the oregon trail start" and i only knew it because yesterday i watched the game grumps play the oregon trail aND IT STARTS IN MISSOURI
im also v frustrated because we had a question about an italian traveler who also made maps that has two continents named after him
aND I KNEW IT WAS FUCKING AMERIGO VESPUCCI BUT I THERE WAS THAT LITTLE VOICE SAYING,,
"its gonna be wronggggggggg"
sO I DIDNT ANSWER IT
the other team didnt get it either though, they said "americo" instead of amerigo and didnt have a last name
sO FUCK ME ((dont actually))
there was also a question which was the lead female actors in movies and it was a four part question where everyone on the team answers what they can then hands it to the team captain and they read out all the answers they have/think are correct
and part one was jennifer lawrence bc it mentioned the hunger games and we got that part right but iM SURPRISED THAT I WAS THE ONLY ONE THAT GOT IT
i could tell because i was sitting next to the captain and could see all the papers
bUT WOW
there was also a varsity question in a four parter which was something like "crevices deep in the ocean" aND I FUCKING KNEW IT WAS TRENCH
AND I KNEW IT BECAUSE I WAS WATCHING JEOPARDY WITH MY DAD AND THE ANSWER TO THE QUESTION ON IT WAS "HADES TRENCH" AND SINCE HADES IS IN THE UNDERWORLD AND THE CLUES HAD WATER AND OCEAN IN IT I FUCKING KNEW IT
but yeah i love and hate scholastic bowl a lot
aND WHEN WE WERE PRACTICING,,,,
there was a question that was "who was the first female poet in america" aND I WAS THE ONLY ONE THAT GOT IT CORRECT
the answer was anne bradstreet and i knew that because in third grade we did the wax museum and i made a speech on her and dressed up as her and shit
thats all,, if you have a scholastic bowl team at your school i only recommend if you like shit like jeopardy and have a lot of useless information from school sticking around in your head
