steps toward an uncomfortable day

Avoid eye contact like it's the plague.

Notice just how much everyone stands above you, and how easily you could be squashed.

Feel how heavy your legs are, be aware of every single part of you at one time.

Speak only when spoken to, say as little as possible.

Hear your footsteps thundering in your ears, even when they don't make a sound.

Sense everyone's eyes and their whispers.

Misspell every word on your paper because you can hardly sit up, much less write a paper.

Breathe carefully and think about it constantly.

See nothing but blurs, but also be blinded at how bright everything is.

Stand outside of yourself, look at how awkwardly you hold yourself, and how you flinch from small things.

Have no appetite, but eat anyway.
