Chapter 27 - Finished Brian/February 1974

POV Brian

Nineteen of February. David Bowie would release the promotional copies of Rebel Rebel's new compact on the TV show Top of The Pops, but the copies were not ready. And the show got in touch with Ronnie Fowler who has been in charge of promoting Queen. He paid for us dinners, wines, he had an expense with us up to twenty thousand pounds. Although Freddie, Roger, Deacy and I were aspiring Rock Stars lived in poverty. Fowler contacted us quickly and said we will replace Bowie on the show. Although Freddie hates the program, we told him that it would be our chance for Queen to become better known. The same day nineteen, we recorded the promotional clip for the Top of the Pops of the song Seven Seas of Rhye, that would be released in the second album of the band. On the same day they asked some friends of ours to take part in the recording and pretend they were dancing on stage and then they would increase the number of people in the video, as if we were singing to hundreds of people. We called all our friends and Helena was present. The recording was also present Alicia. Roger insisted on calling her.

They are not dating, but, Roger to tease Helena, called Alice. Of course Helena was very upset. She can not even stand Alicia's presence in college, she imagines elsewhere. Thankfully the recordings went well.

The next day, February twenty, it was Helena's twenty-first birthday and my friends and I decided to have a surprise party for her in the apartment she shares with Clare, Sarah and Vanessa. During the day, Freddie, Deacy, Rog and I attended photo shoots with Mick Rock for the back cover of the Queen II album. That's right. This is the name of the second album, due to lack of creativity. During the whole day, we took pictures with white clothes and white background, as it represents the A side of the album, the white side.

At night, on Wednesday, we made the surprise to Helena. We bought cake and salted and congratulated her for her twenty-one years. Helena kissed me on the lips and cried a lot.

- Is everything all right, my love? I asked worriedly.

"I'm just thrilled Bri," Helena said, stroking my hair.

Rog was the only one who was not present ...

I was surprised by Helena's behavior. I realized she was not very happy, even though it was her birthday. I imagine it's because of Roger, she misses the friendship she had with him.

POV Roger

I was in my apartment smoking and drinking. They all went to Helena's twenty-first birthday, but me. I've already finished my karting course at the end of last year, now I'm dedicating myself to the studies of the Masters of Molecular Biology, including the classes resumed last week. Until when I go to study I do not know everything will depend on the progress of the band.

At the moment, I smoke looking at the ceiling and thinking of everything that has already happened. Every day more I miss the presence of Helena and Brian in my life. As much as I am very hurt with them, I miss it. Bri has always been like a brother to me and Helena is the love of my life. Look at my dilemma. I confess that at the same time that I want to forgive them I can not. They omitted that they were dating, Helena deceived me, Bri did not trust me. It's too cruel. Tears form in my eyes. I know Helena has a right to be with whom she wants, but it is painful to know that you have been deceived and in the end, she chooses her best friend, as if it were her brother to date. My wish was to go after Helena now and hug her, wish for a Happy Birthday and say that regardless of everything, I love her very much, but, my pride, my heartache speak louder.

On the twenty-first, Thursday the boys and I had another day of photo shoot with Mick Rock for labo B, the black side of the Queen II album. We were in dark clothes and a dark background. Mick had already chosen what the cover of the album would look like. It would be in the style of actress Marlene Dietrich of the film the Shanghai Express, in which she is wearing a black outfit, on a black background and with her hands in the Arachnid style between her shoulders. Freddie even said that it will be Marlene in the photos we take.
