Chapter 36 - Roger Daddy / June 1974

First of June ... Saturday morning ...

I'm in my room, smoking, staring at the ceiling and listening to music and thinking of Helena's words to me last night and she's right.

Flasback of the restaurant.

After Helena Clotilde and I had dinner and had dessert, some people recognized Helena as Miss England and some Queen fans recognized me as well. Helena gave autographs and took pictures and I also gave autograph for some fans who say they are a lot of Queen fans and asked when there will be a new album of the band and I said that soon. Clotilde took pictures of Helena with the fans and took my photos with the fans of the band. I noticed that there were two paparazzi in the place and they took our photos too. We are public people now.

After we met some fans, I said to Clotilde,

"Mrs. Clotilde, could Helena and I talk to each other alone, a little apart?" I have something personal to say to Helena.

Clotilde looked at us suspiciously and Helena said,

"Clotilde, you can stay at this table, Roger and I will sit at those tables for a brief chat, okay?"

"Okay, Helena," Clotilde said, taking a cup of coffee.

Helena and I sat five tables ahead of Clotilde, who did not take her eyes from us.

"How can you stand to keep this woman twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week?" Can you explain me? I asked Helena.

"Roger, being Miss requires sacrifices." She's my hostess. It is the organization of the contest. She will accompany me to Manila in the month of July for Miss Universe. I knew all this, but I like Clotilde and got used to it. It's like a second mother to me. Give me lots of advice, but, what do you want to talk to me in private?

"Helena, I realized how annoying you were to me, knowing from Alicia that she is pregnant and that I will be a father," he said, looking at her.

Helena looked at me sadly. His sad look cut my heart.

"I'm really upset, I never thought you were the father of a son of Alicia." Having a child is a wonderful blessing, but of Alicia? Helena's eyes were watery.

"Both Alicia and I have neglected ourselves for a moment, Helena," she said to her teary-eyed. "I will take this child, this son, but I sincerely wish I had a child with you in the future." You know what my dream is? That one day you would choose me, that we could date, I would ask you to be engaged, marry you, I would make success with Queen and you success as a painter, like Miss, how are you doing now and having children with you, having a beautiful family with you . Let us live in tranquility, in love. But, I hesitated. Alicia and I had just one affair with a lot of sex, I did it because at the time I was hurt with you and I did it to tease you, you forget, understand?

"Roger, I do not know what to say. Now I'm the one who's hurt. I know I have no right, we are not boyfriends, we are not together, because now I am Miss, but when I saw Alicia saying that you would be a father, my heart sank. That woman is a viper. She will make your life hell. Now she says she only wants child support. If Queen comes to make world-wide success, how are you going to do, of course, she'll do anything to get all her money. Unless you marry her. Helena said with tears in her eyes.

- What? I said in amazement.

"I know you do not love Alicia, but if you do not want to spend a lot of money on alimony, you'll marry her. Helena looked at me with sad eyes.

"I'm not marrying her. It will not be a son who will hold me. I will give love and affection to my son, but, I will not marry Alicia. I'll give the alimony the right amount and if I realize that Alicia wants to rip all my money, I'll go to court and fight for my son's custody, "she said, almost crying.
