Chapter 39 - The Alicia Process / Miss Universe / July 1974.

Two of July ...

I park my car in the airport parking lot. I help Helena remove her suitcases from the trunk of the car. Freddie was with Mary in the car as well as Clotilde. In the car behind came my sister Clare with Vanessa, Sarah, Louis and Tim. And in the other car came Deacy with Veronica and Les. Everyone came to say goodbye to Helena. Helena's parents wanted to say goodbye to her daughter, but because of the work at the hospital in Truro they could not, but they will be shipped to Manila the week of the Miss Universe. They want to be with Helena.

Everyone entered the airport and there were some photographers, who took a picture of Helen, who was always smiling. Helena conquered in a short time a great legion of fans, by its sympathy. She stopped and gave autograph and took pictures with some people at the airport. Everyone wished her good luck.

We escort Helena to the check-in area. I was holding her bags, I was standing next to her all the time. After Clotilde and she checked in, we sat on some benches to wait for the boarding hours.

"Here's your gift," I told her, pulling a small box out of my pocket.

She took the box and opened it and smiled. He had bought her a gold bracelet, which came with pendants that he had written The Ten Commandments. Helena got tears in her eyes and hugged me.

- I hope that you enjoyed. You're very religious and I'm sure it will protect you and it will make you remember me as well, "I told her, looking into her eyes.

"Rog, the bracelet is beautiful, my angel," she said excitedly. "You must have paid dearly." I do not want you to spend money like this, my angel.

"Helena, no matter how much I spent. And I'll tell you more: the day I'm a successful musician with Queen, I'll give you more. I will make many dreams of you. Do not doubt it. She said, stroking his hand.

"I do not know how to thank you." She smiled at me.

She smiled more and kissed my face slowly and closed my eyes.

I smiled at her then.

"It does not matter." I smile passionately and hug hard and kiss her hair.

- Put it on me? She said, handing the bracelet over.

"Of course," I smiled, putting the bracelet on his right wrist.

"Thank you for the beautiful gift, for all the affection you have for me, Rog. She said excitedly.

- Will miss. I miss you so much. I'm just going to see her at the end of the month now, "I said in annoyance.

"Days pass quickly, Rog," she said. "Please pray for me, I know you're not religious, but believe in God." Rog, I really want to beat Miss Universe, but, I know how hard it is.

"Lena, do not worry," I said to her, smiling. "I'll pray for you, but rest assured, you will win. My heart says so. Trust a little more in your ability, in yourself. You will conquer all with your beauty, intelligence, your sweetness. Be sure about it.

"I feel like a winner this way, I'm a winner. I never thought I would go this far, be Miss England. It's a dream come true, "she said.

"And you will go further. You will conquer the world with its beauty. "I kissed her cheek and then I traced my nose to her face and she smiled.
