Chapter 50 - Ridge Farm / August 1975 / Part 01 - Freddie's Cherry Cake

On the twenty-sixth of July, on Saturday, Rog's twenty-sixth birthday. He celebrated more simply in the girls' apartment. He was not too happy to make a big celebration because of all the difficult mishaps the band is going through. There was only one cake, beers and some salty ones. Since I had already returned from the trip, I helped the girls in the small celebration. The days passed. Today is the first of August, Friday. The boys will spend three weeks in a cottage in Herfordshire, rehearsing the new songs they are writing. Then they will go to Ridge Farm, a farm, where they have a beautiful recording studio, called Rockfield Studios. They will stay at Ridge Farm for a month recording some of the band's songs and our friends will accompany them, including me. Only Veronica will be in London, because she gave birth to little Robert on July eighteenth. She is still in the convalescent stage of pregnancy and Robert for being newborn, still will not make a trip. Robert has John's light brown eyes and Veronica's red hair. He is a very beautiful and cute baby. Rog and I are delighted with the baby.

While the boys were in Herfordshire, I again painted the pictures of the boys. I bought an apartment for me, in the Kensington neighborhood, actually in a neighboring building where Clare, Vanessa and Sarah live on rent now. I decided to live alone, because now I have a life a little more agitated. Of the three cars I have an Alfa Romeo, an Audi and a Mercedes Benz, the three I won from the contests I attended, I decided to stay with Alfa Romeo and Audi. At Mercedes Benz I sold and bought a new house for my parents in Truro myself. I asked if they wanted to live in London and try a job here, they said their lives have always been to Truro and will continue to be in Truro. I understand my parents, but, I said I would buy a new house for them, with new furniture and new car for them and so I did. As for my apartment, in Kensington the size is double that I lived with the girls: there is a very large living room, a large dining room, large bathroom with a whirlpool, the kitchen is small as well as the Laundry room and the balcony and there are four large bedrooms. The biggest room is mine. The other three bedrooms are smaller. But, one of the rooms, I set up a small painting workshop, so I paint my pictures. The other two rooms are for guests when my parents or friends come here. I smiled as I painted the picture for the boys. They will love.

In the first three weeks of August, I finished painting the picture for the boys. They will have a surprise and I have also purchased materials for my Master's in Art History classes, as well as repainting some paintings to sell at the art gallery in central London. Even when I go to Ridge Farm I will continue painting my paintings to sell in the gallery. They asked for four pictures.

The boys returned to London on August twenty-ninth, Friday to settle some things at EMI, but by Sunday morning we would be leaving for Ridge Farm.

Sunday, August thirty-first.

In John's car were Freddie, Mary, Clare and Louis. Clare and Louis fell in love. Who would say my friend Louis falling in love with Clare? They started dating a few days ago. There's no way. They are completely in love. Along with them was Bri as well. In the trunk of John's car were his bass, the Bri Red Special and the pedestals with Freddie's microphones.

In Tim's car was Les with Vanessa and Sarah. Les and Vanessa started dating recently. No use, they fell in love too and Sarah, my friend fell in love with Tim. They are also dating. My friends fell in love with each other. In the trunk of Tim's car was going groceries we bought like rice, beans, eggs, milk. I did the shopping with the girls. We will have a small, separate house for us at Ridge Farm. EMI Studios will produce Queen's new album and are paying for our one-month stay. They gave the boys money to buy the food for a month. Mary, Clare, Sarah, Vanessa and I went to the grocery store to buy a lot of food, it needs a lot of food and drink to feed the boys. And each one was entrusted with one thing. Vanessa and Sarah will keep the part of the housekeeping, Mary and Clare washing and ironing, and I was chosen to cook for the battalion on a daily basis, but I do not complain, I like to cook and I still have free time to paint my paintings , Take a river bath. There is a river next to Ridge Farm, a waterfall. I'm going to enjoy a lot of this month's rest from the world, from trips, Miss's photo session, I'll rest, too, before I resume my studies on October 1st. My Master's degree that would begin at the end of September, begins on the first of October.
