Chapter 17

Chapter 17
Noah's POV
(At school)
Lily and I were with her friends and mine taking the long way home.

Everyone knew it was my birthday thanks to a few people for which I mad at, besides Lily of course. (Hinting sarcasm)

I wasn't so sure if it was okay if everyone knew. Actually I'm not okay with it because of earlier........

FLASHBACK (Lunch time)

I'm walking into the cafeteria as I see Lily coming over to where I am. A few classmates from from Math greet with a "Happy Birthday."

After I got my lunch and I seated right next to Lily's chair. However she left to go get her food. I felt something icy cold run down my head, face, and back.

My head turns and I see not just one. Not just two. But FIVE jocks laughing like there's no tomorrow.

"Happy Birthday, Nerd!!" one of them yells. The one I recognized as Xavier.

The other four were Rick, Zander, Tyler, And Josh.

They had instantly dumped all their lunches onto me. Leaving me in a hot mess.

Literally.

The food was so freaking hot, it felt like the food was burning my clothes.

As Lily comes over, she looked like she was about to explode. The five guys were still there laughing their heads off.

"What the hell happen?!" Lily exclaimed.

I did nothing, but turn my head to the direction of them.

She steps up to them and grabs one of the jock's jacket into a tight grip.

"You five better be explaining. I don't got all day!" her voice rose.

"I-I-I," Xavier stuttered.

The other four were trying to step away from the scene. However Lily made sure they didn't.

"Get your butts over here!" she yelled again.

Xavier didn't try to budge.

"Apologize!"

"I-I-I'm sorry," Xavier apologized. Looking down.

The other four did the same. And so the five of them left quickly out the lunch room.

"You okay?" Lily asked after about five minutes.

"Yea," I replied.

The food only hit my face and my upper torso.

"I'm going to get cleaned up." Lily nodded and cleaned up the mess.

I'm in the bathroom cleaning myself from the food. Mash potatoes. Gravy. Corn. Grape juice. Orange juice. Water. Soda. Really really REALLY hot cheese.

"Just why," I think out aloud. "Today had to be my birthday didn't it?"


END OF FLASHBACK


It doesn't seem like a big deal, but it will be once you actually experience it. I can still feel the hot food. And smell it.

Whatever.

As Lily and my friends get to their houses, it was just Lily and myself.

"Yea sorry about earlier," Lily apologizes.

"Why are you apologizing? It's not your fault," I said.

"But still. Sometimes I wish things were so much easier," Lily admits.

"Me too," I confessed.

By the time we reached Lily's house, her brothers had arrived.

"Move out the way!!" Dante exclaims. He shoves me out the way. With the other two brothers following right behind.

Struggle.

"Guys!" Lily yells out.

Her brothers come back with their heads down and pouting.

"Noah is going to be staying with you guys for a while until dad and I get back," Lily said.

What....heh?

Hold up a second.........

Heh?

"Wait what?!" with that Lily hugged me and sprinted out the door just like that.

I looked at the three boys right before me.

"Uhhhhhh," I didn't know what to do.

"Well," Drew extends the "well."

"Well what?" I asked.

"Lily left the house," Dante begins to reply.

"You gotta keep us occupied," Nick finished the reply.

Oh god forbid. Help.

This is going to be a long while.



-----later on-----


I was playing Monopoly on the floor with Nick while playing a video game with Dante and Andrew.

Multitasking. Ugh.

"Noah?" Nick says with a hushed voice.

"Yea, little man," I said.

"Where's Lily?"

"I don't know."

I haven't heard from Lily. It's been nearly three hours since Lily left me here with the boys.

"I'll be right back. Okay, guys?" I told 'em.

Dante and Andrew didn't say anything but shake their hands in my face. Nick was the only one that actually replied with a "Yes."

I pull out my phone from my back pocket while walking towards the kitchen.

Dialing Lily's number.

All I here is ringing.

"Pick up. Pick up the phone, Lily," I whispered to myself.

After calling her and her not replying after about ten times, I texted her.

"Where are you?"

"Answer please."

"Please answer."

"Please don't worry me."

"Where are you?"

"Are you okay?"

"Answer."

"Please."

Texts are going on and on.

After about the hundredth text, I have given up.

"Noah," I turned around with the boys at the doorway.

"Is Lily okay?" Dante questions.

I didn't answer.

"Where is she?" Andrew asked.

I didn't answer.

"Please answer," Nick said.

How was I supposed to answer if I didn't know what the answer is?

"She's probably okay. Don't worry," I reassured.

The three of them run up to me and give me a group hug.

Where IS Lily?

"Boys!" a voice booms. "I'm home!"

Suddenly their dad comes in.

"Noah. Boys. What's going on?" their dad asked.

"We don't know where Lily is," Nick stifled a tear. Poor kid.

The three brothers come up to their father and give him a giant hug.

"Oh that reminds me!" he exclaims. "Boys will you go to the living room i'll be right there."

They didn't say anything and walked out.

"I heard it was your birthday.....so......happy birthday!" he begins to say.

"Where is Lily?" My voice cracks

"Don't worry she's safe. You can head home now. I'll be fine with the boys. From what I'm hearing something awaits for you at home," he answers.

I wanted to trust him, but he didn't say where she was.

Just trust the man!

He's Lily's father for pete sakes.


(At Noah's house)


The door was suspiciously open. No lights were on.

What the hell?

"Guys? Anyone home?" I call out.

I locked the door behind me and turn on the lights.

No one was in sight.

Heading to the kitchen.

Nothing.

I heard footsteps.

Hushed voices.

I felt something creep on me.

Pair of hands are on my shoulders.

"Ahhhh!" I screamed.

I swung my arm back.

"Whoa!!" a feminine voice yelps.

Huh?

I switched my direction and saw Lily.

"Surprise!" she sings.

"You nearly gave me a heart attack!"

"Sorry." her voice so gentle and quiet.

Next thing I know I hear party streamers go off.

"Surprise!" my family yells out.

"So this is what you made me babysit for?" I questioned.

"Maaaaaybee," Lily rocks back and forth in place. My 5'9" frame towered her 5'7" frame.

"It was all her idea!" Faith calls out.

Giving Lily the "really" look.

Pulling her into a hug whispering into her ear, "Thank you."




We had cake, then my family had left to go shopping.

Leaving Lily and I in the living room watching movie after movie.

We didn't really pay attention to "Pacific Rim" too much since we watched it so many times.

We were busy sitting on the floor going through the presents I got.

From what I was told, a few friends had dropped by earlier to drop off these presents.

Gift after gift. I loved them all, but I was kind of waiting for Lily's gift.

After about an hour, we went through all the presents. Beside the one Lily had got me.

"Okay so my gift is a bit big and besides it's at a special location," Lily said.

This girl just LOVES to keep me questioning. Doesn't she?

But seriously....

What the eff is going?

"C'mon I'll take you there!" her excitement is bursting out of her.

Running out the door, not forgetting to lock it, we head off to wherever Lily was taking us.

Zipping through the empty roads ahead of us. Crossing street after street.

Until finally...

We were here.

It look like a really small house with trees behind the house in a circle. Lights hanging off of them.

"What's all this?" I asked.

"It's called your present," Lily answered.

Right in the middle of the little backyard was a piano.

The snow that came down last week was still on the trees and the ground. Although the piano was completely snow free.

Stepping up to the piano. Leaving footsteps in the snow. I started to play the melody to "Heart Vacancy" by The Wanted. Lily steps up to the piano and begins to play it with me.

As we finish the song up, we both stand up as the snow begins to fall again.

She looks absolutely beautiful with the snow in her hair.

Pulling her into a hug. "Thank you for everything."

"I should be thanking you actually."

I didn't want to question that she meant, so keep my mouth shut.

Th snow wasn't coming down that hard. Lily and my beanie were getting snow all over them.

We watch as the snow fell. Silence had too over, but not for long.

I know it is my birthday and all, however I've been wanting to say this.

We were still outside. Same spot. Now coming dow gently.

I cleared my throat.

"I've been wanting to ask you this. For awhile. I just wanted to know...."

I paused.

Should I continue?

I guess I should.

"Do you want to go out with me?"

A/N: sorry it was a long wait. I had writer's block and plus I have been busy.

I know it's not much, however I did a long enough chapter at least I think.
