Noah's POV

I stayed all night with Lily in the chair beside her. It was 3 in the morning and she was still awake. She stared into space. The TV was on.

Her brothers had left due to an early baseball game in the morning. Lily's dad had left with them, but her brothers are with their grandparents.

She had not said a single word. Her eyes kept trying to close, as if it was her obligation, but she refused to sleep.

The doctor and nurse, Nurse Laina, had come to check in. "Miss Ashford, if you are up to a conversation, we can had a discussion. If you'd like....."

Lily detached herself from her bed, and headed with the nurse that had been with the doctor outside of the room.

"Did you know? This was room she had come in the first time she came to the hospital..." Doctor Weston had said. "She was only eight when she broke her arm and the surgery took awhile..." He looked at me as I examined the room. "She had said if she ever came back, she would like to be in this room because the thing about this room was that it wasn't too big nor too small. It had stuff animals to comfort her. So every time she had been in the hospital, this room was hers. From when her mother died and she took it hard, when she had chest pains in the fifth grade, when things have gotten hard on her, etc. I wasn't her original doctor, but my father was and he had told me about her so if I ever had her as my patient, I would know about her. All her files are kept in the cabinet. Lily had requested that so no one else knew her information, but herself, the doctor, her family, and when she had come to visit a while back she requested you to be part of the list as well...."

Dr. Weston had left like none of the conversation had happened, and I decided to look through her files.
