Chapter 23
Noah's POV
I had stayed over Lily's place for the weekend.

I'm walking the hallways looking at all of the pictures when the Ashford kids were little. Pictures of first baseball games, soccer tournaments, plays, singing contest, dance competitions and recitals, beaches, snowboarding, building snowmen, field trips, parks, etc. Pictures of their parents just before Lily was born, when each of the kids were born, Lily's sixteen birthday, etc.

I suddenly hear soft barks a room away.

Maggie was scratching at the door. "Hold on, Mags," I wiped the sleep that was left out of my eyes. Maggie was jumping up and down repetitively, running in circles, and hitting my shins with her paws. Then I realized what she was so antic about. I sprinted to the door. Quickly putting my shoes on while trying to put the leash onto Maggie.

Closing the door right behind me. It's about 1am, so Lily and I usually have our 1am breakfast. It's like a little tradition now. Ever since Lily has been waking up up at 3am and eats her breakfast that time, it's been like that.

After Mags did what she had to do, we went back. Trying to open the door. It didn't open. Ugh. I'm locked out.

"Please tell me Lily's awake," I thought. I'm praying so hard that she is.

I'm like wiggling the door knob vigorously. Trying so hard not to wake the whole neighborhood up.

I check each and every pocket I had. No phone. Why did I have to leave it inside?

Maggie and I race to the back door. I look through the blinds and see Lily.

Banging the glass door saying, "Lily! Lily! I'm out here! Let me in!"

Lily almost dropped her plate of toast. Holding her chest and breathing hard. Franticly walking over to the door while slowly opening the door.

"You little, asshole! You gave me a frigging heart attack!" Lily exclaimed as Mags and I hug Lily.

"I got locked out of the house," I explained.

"You're lucky enough you didn't missed our daily 1 am breakfast," Lily reassured.

I held Lily's waist with one arm while giving her a kiss on the cheek.

"I know I am," I agreed.

We made our breakfast. We made small pancakes, toast, eggs, bacon, don't even me start on how delicious the bacon looked like. To top it off we had small slices of oranges and glasses if milk.

We began eating until we heard a small voice. "Can I have some?"

We turned our heads to see Nick standing in the doorway with half his body hiding in the doorway.

"Sure thing, little man," Lily answers.

Nick slowly walked over to the table. He sits right in front of us. He looked so small and shy.

"You okay?" I asked.

He just nodded.

Once he rubbed the sleep out of his eyes, he looked fully awake and instantly dug in. Shoving so much food into his face.

"Hey, hey, hey, slow down," Lily warned.

Nick didn't listen and kept eating and eating. He doesn't bother to look up at both of us. Just keeps shoving the food.

"Did Drew or Dante come back from their friends house?" Lily asked. Nick just shook his head no.

"Was dad with you or were you with Granny?" Lily continued.
