Lily's POV
Just breathe. Breath, Lily. You got this, I told myself.
It was three in the morning day of the graduation. I sat on the balcony of my room as I felt the morning air graze my skin. The feeling of nervousness and anxiety started to rush through.
No word from my dad. My brothers were sleeping in their rooms. Noah was home. Dylan was as well. The sound of early morning cars through the city.
I could not go back to sleep with anxiety creeping on me because of graduation. I don't really see it as a big deal though sometimes. Sometimes I see it as a big deal when I think about it.
Fourteen hours until graduation....

Six hours until graduation...
"Do you think he will come," Chrissy asked during lunch.
I have not talked to my dad just yet about it since he hasn't exactly called us. "I don't know...." I answered quietly.
"I bet he will come..." Noah rubbed my back. I gave a gentle smile.
What if he doesn't come? I've always planned what would have happened.

I was going to wait for my name to be called. My dad would have video taped the whole thing. My mom would have been in tears. My brothers along with them. I would make my speech. Then the diplomas would be handed out.
"Lillian Ashford..."
Afterwards, we would have gone to my mom's restaurant. We would have eaten until our stomachs felt like they were going to explode.
I would sleep happily because my whole family was there to watch my success throughout all the bullshit I have been through.

None of that will happen. I have always planned this out since I was five. I did every thing I could to get where I am. I did everything I could to get better.
Now I won't see my dream come true.

I sat on the toilet in my bathroom as I looked at my dress. We were going to be given the caps and gown at the graduation.
My dress looked similar to the dress my mom wore to her graduation. It was a black dress. Tight around the torso. And very "flow-y" at the end. Sort of like what Marilyn Monroe wore. Where she wears the dress that flies up, but she keeps it down with her hands. You get what I mean. It was knee length and strapless.
My mom's dress was like what I had except a lot smaller. When she was younger, she had a smaller body frame the only reason why I got a new one. Bringing it to the tailor would ruin the dress. I'd rather keep it the way it is and remember her like that. Rather than fixing it up just so I can wear it.
I already tried it on a few weeks ago. I could not zipper it all the way. And it sort of ripped, so I didn't bother with it anymore.
"Grandma says to hurry. Noah's at the door," I heard Dante yell through the door.
"Give me a second..." I responded.
I slipped the dress on. I applied some make-up. I applied some mascara and and lipstick to look good or at least presentable. The photo of my mom and dad at their graduation was sitting on top of my phone as I got ready.
I examined it really closely. My dad had his hands wrapped around my mom's waist. Dad looked at Mom the way every girl wants to be looked at by their lover. Mom smiled right at the camera. Her smile was a bright sun. A smile from ear to ear. Her bright blue eyes sparkled a bit more in the picture. My dad's hair was blonde as ever. I never even knew he had blonde hair until I saw this picture. His hair now was a really dark brown. She wore the dress and black stilettos. At least I think because last time I thought Mom was no where near Dad's height. Their robes were over top of their outfits.
