Luke didn't pull away from Ashton, doing quite the opposite. He leant into Ashton more, feeling safe for the first time in over two weeks. Maybe he was wrong to, maybe this was just as dangerous for him. But the illusion of safety was enough.
Luke was jut desperate to keep some grip on reality.
Ashton knew he had to twist Luke a little more, before he could really trust him not to leave. But he was ready to take a risk. Only a small one, but it was unlike him.
"It's gotta be driving you crazy being stuck inside so much." he mused, almost absentmindedly.
The blonde boy sat beside him shrugged, and didn't say anything. The truth was, he was craving fresh air. Sure, Ashton opened the windows during the day, but it wasn't the same. Luke wouldn't have admitted that on his own, he'd merely accepted what Ashton gave him. He was thankful he was still alive.
"You must know," Ashton prompted again, a little more sharply than he meant to.
"Well yeah..." Luke mumbled, still leaning against Ashton.
"Come on," was all Ashton replied, standing up from beside Hemmings. He gave a slight gesture to get the blonde to follow closely.
Luke just stood up and followed after Ashton, already wanting to sit back with him. That couldn't be normal... How caring Ashton had been just now had pushed Luke over the edge.
The older man led Luke towards the hallway and then unlocked the back door, much to Luke's surprise.
The garden was bare and enclosed in a seven to eight foot wooden fence. It seemed bleak to Luke, but still better than inside.
Luke walked outside with Ashton, letting the older man sit down on the slightly patchy grass first, before he sat down himself.
Ashton pulled Luke closer to him, and Luke immediately relaxed. It was an odd feeling of security from having Ashton beside him.
He was wrong to feel that way. He wasn't safe here. Although Ashton was growing attached to Luke, as a genuine connection, he still had his job to do. And time was running out for that. If he didn't carry out his side of the deal, both of them would be in minor danger, at least.
Ashton valued his life over Luke's by a lot.
