I walked beside my brother as we were walking back to the Dixon's. We caught up and spoke about different things that have happened since we haven't been in contact. "I broke up with Lauren." Jack announced, "Last week, as soon as this all kicked off." I know I shouldn't feel bad but I do. I always knew there was something fishy about her, I just didn't know when she would explode and what would trigger her to explode. I stayed silent, not knowing what to say. He broke up with her because of me, that shouldn't have been why. "I'm sorry..." I sighed, literally not having a clue on what to say. He snuggled me into his side as reassurance that it was okay. "It's not your fault and please don't think it is. She wasn't worth it." I nodded and hugged him back.I looked in front of us to notice Chris making conversation with my parents, making them laugh and really trying to make an effort to make them like him - more than they already did. I smile to myself at his attempts to be liked more - and accepted, as I suppose he probably doesn't feel that way since his best friend hasn't spoken to him in weeks.
With Chris swinging open the door, everyone walks in to spot a surprised looking blonde woman stopping in her tracks as she noticed all of my family and her son standing in the doorway. "Mother!" He yelled and grinned at her. "Is there room for 3 more?" Chris questions, gesturing to my family. "Of course there is!" Chris' mother beamed up. She jogged back into her kitchen to continue making her delicious dinner that smelt like all things nice. Whilst the adults went and made small talk, I headed into the lounge to meet Kelly slouching down on the sofa flicking through television channels, looking extremely bored. She gave me a soft smile once she saw me and turned the telly off.
I placed my guitar on the floor and opened it up. Grabbing the black instrument out of its case. Placing the strap around my neck and placing the large object on my lap as I sit cross legged on the floor, I begin to start strumming a tune along to my light humming. Soon enough, everyone heard and walked in, following the sound of mg voice echoing throughout the house.
Everyone clapped as I strummed the last note on my guitar. Laughing and giggling with all the happiness spread around the house right now. I didn't want this moment to end. All my favourite people in one room with me feeling the happiest I've ever been in this rollercoaster of a journey. As everyone continued to laugh and make conversation, I notice Chris walk out the lounge, I quickly follow after him. "Chris?"
He spins around, wiping his cheek. Was he crying? I wondered to myself. "Are you okay?" I asked the boy with tears in his eyes. I grabbed his hand away from his face and used my own fingertips to wipe the moisture from under his eyes, which was rolling into his cheeks. "What's wrong?" I question again. I stare deeply into his bright green eyes. They were full of colour, but why was he crying? "I'm fine, just being silly." He blinked back the rest of his tears. I looked at him in disbelief, I don't think he even believed his own words until I asked him again. "I just feel lucky..." He whispers, looking down at me, placing a finger under my chin as he gently lifted it up. "You're not making any sense?" I said, my eyes beginning to squint as I didn't understand. "I'm happy I've got you for good now-" I interrupted him, "You had me for good anyway," Chris quickly placed a finger over my lips to stop me from talking - him obviously having something else to say. "I'm glad I got you and I'm glad that Jack has given me a chance because if he didn't, I still don't know what I would do. I promise I won't hurt you, or do anything to disappoint you." Another tear escapes his eyes. "I know you won't do anything to hurt me, I love you, okay? I'm extremely proud of you for how much you've helped me with everything. I really am grateful for you, Chris." I spoke, truth within every word I said to him. He invited me into a bone crushing hug as I felt him wrap his strong arms around my tiny frame.
"Besides, I am kind of glad that Jack found out about us." I admitted. Chris looked at me confused and was about to speak up and disagree until I beat him to it. "It wouldn't have been secret love if he found out, but secrets are made to be broken."
