Snapping his head in my direction, the look on his face was unreadable."That's what this is about Jazz?"
Just before he could say anything more, there was a brief knock on the door, before a burly man in a black suit came in. As he began talking, he stumbled on his words, taken aback by my presence as he looked back and forth at the both of us.
"Umm sir, whenever you are ready the car is waiting outside. Shall I escort the lady out?"
"No that's not necessary. She's coming with me." Grabbing my purse and coat off of the coffee table for me, Prince grabbed my hand and pulled me out of the dressing room.
The thirty minute ride back to the hotel was filled with silence. Scooting into the limo and as far away from him as possible, somehow he still managed to invade my personal space. As I stared aimlessly out of the window as the London streets zoomed by, he grabbed a hold of my hand. Attempting to snatch my hand back, he tightened his grip until I eventually let him have his way. Not once did I turn to look at him as he played with my fingers and traced over the white birthmark on the back of my hand.
Once we made it safely back into the presidential suite, I finally addressed him. "I'm going to go take a shower." He peeped an "okay" before I sauntered into the bathroom.
Feeling refreshed after my fifteen minute long shower, I walked into the cold bedroom and began digging in my opened suitcase. Standing at the foot of the bed naked and dripping wet, I could feel him staring holes into me as he laid propped up against the headboard. "P, what the hell are you staring at?"
Calmly he said, "Just admiring your beauty that's all. Don't have to be hostile about it mama." Rolling my eyes, I walked back into the bathroom to change and finish my routine.
Right as I walk out of the bathroom in my oversized Vikings jersey, I hear the front door closing and some metal rattling. Peeking out the doors of the bedroom, I spot Prince looking over a cart of food. "What's all of this?"
Looking caught off guard at my sudden reappearance he said, "I heard your stomach growling in the car so I ordered us some dinner."
Sitting at the small dining room table we ate in silence. He picked at his eggplant parmesean. As I dove into my vegetarian lasagna, out of the corner of my eye I noticed his silver fork inching closer to my dinner. "P, if you knew what was best for you, you'd focus your attention back on your food."
Acting like a pesky child, he didn't heed my warning as he cut off a piece of my lasagna. "P! Oh my god, are you serious? Didn't your mom ever tell you not to get in between a black woman and her food?!" Pushing my plate away, I buried my face in my hands. Just when I was about to apologize.
I heard the dining room chair slide across the carpet before I peeked and saw him kneeling right next to me. He wrapped his arms around my waist before placing butterfly kisses up the side of my arm. "I'm sorry I ate some of your food, but you're not throwing a temper tantrum just because of that. Look, whatever you saw or heard when you flipped on the tv doesn't have anything to do with how I feel about you. Yes my name might be on a marital contract, but I'm here with you. That should tell you something."
I scoffed at him. "Yeah you're here because you missed what's between my legs. You just--",
"If you think I'd fly a woman half way across the world just for some nookie, you're sadly mistaken mama. I missed you as a whole. I missed the kool-aid smile that'd be plastered on your face when I sing to you. The way your laugh changes depending on how funny something is. How your big brown eyes twinkle when you talk about something your really passionate about. I missed the way you look at me when you listen to me talk. I missed how when you're deep in thought you always stare up and to the left. I missed you randomly singing songs from the movie Sparkle. I missed how you scrunch your nose up every time I try and kiss the tip of your nose. I--",
Becoming flustered, I stopped him. "Okay P, I get it. I'm sorry I didn't mean to dog you out earlier, I was just in my feelings. But you have to understand where I'm coming from with this."
Softly gripping my chin, he pulled my face closer to his. "I'm sorry too. My intentions are not to hurt you anymore than I might have already. But I have a few more days to make it up to you before we leave, it's just us."
After finishing our late dinner, we were snuggled up in the comfort of the king sized bed watching Toy Story. As my head laid against his bare chest, the soothing sound of his strong heartbeat caused my attention to shift away from the movie.Feeling my eyelids become heavy, I pull away from his embrace and head to the closet to pull out what I was really wearing to bed.
"Thats not what you're wearing to bed?", he asked, referring to my oversized jersey.
"Oh no, not at all."
Emerging from the bathroom, I leaned against the doorframe as I watched Prince soak in the site of my curves veiled in this lingerie.
Watching him intensively as the gears turned in his head, a devilish smirk started to form on his face? Aww, how cute. He thinks his sex suspension has been lifted. Grabbing the remote off the nightstand, I turned the tv off before hopping back in bed. Almost immediately, he scooted over closer to me but he was blocked by the two pillows I threw in between us. "Uh uh! P head back to the border!"
With a puzzled look on his face, he tried to plead his case. "Jazz I said I was sorry! We are two consenting adults who—"
"Goodnight!". I turned my back to Prince and snuggled up under the plush covers. Just as I became comfortable enough to drift off, the mattress slowly dipped behind me and I felt his warm hands trace along the outline of my thigh, causing me shiver. In a shaky breath, I whispered to him, "You have five seconds to pull your hand back or I swear you will be sleeping on that couch."
Pulling away, he readjusted on his side of the bed, making the mattress shake every time he readjusted his pillows. The last thing I heard before I fell asleep was him angrily muttering to himself like a spoiled child that couldn't get his way.
