A/N: Haha, I love writing about Natsu—his stupidity gives me life.
Natsu
Footsteps hurried down the corridor in Lucy's apartment whilst Happy and I comforted ourselves on Lucy's sofa. The table, chairs and book shelves were neatly placed on corners of the room, as well as stacks of paper placed on the table. A small lamp caused a shadow to stretch across the surface of a page from Lucy's novel.
Across from me, the door slammed open; framed was Lucy Hearfilia herself, panting heavily. Her brown eyes searched mine, and then to the rest of the room. She was probably wondering whether I had set anything on fire during my short visit.
"Lushe!" Happy swirled around the room, his tail tickling Lucy's face in the process.
"How did you get in?" she asked, without losing a beat. "I locked the door and the windows."
I grinned. Her skin reflected the sun's beams, and her angry face looked cute—even with her knotted eyebrows. "I came from underneath," I confessed.
Lucy's eyes trailed down onto the ground, yet she could not see anything. "I asked Virgo to lend me a hand," I continued, "She stopped me before I set the door on fire." She sent me a piercing glance, which I chuckled to in return.
The pretty mage stole one quick glance at me, before pointing to the door, urging me to get out. I stayed, motionless, looking her up and down. Lucy, after moments of registering what I was doing, slammed her body against mine and threw a punch at my face. Her loud shouts of "Pervert!" rang in the air.
Warmth flooded my veins, my body, my being. I struggled to find a reason to push her off me—even when her punch hurt. Lucy pushed herself off me, the air suddenly turning cold. I looked around just in case Gray decided to drop by.
Lucy returned to her suitcase, rummaging through her clothes. However, Lucy seemed to be missing something as she pulled up one of her old bikinis and gave a sigh. It's patterns consisted of white polka dots on top of a deep red background.
"Stay here, Natsu. I'm going shopping for a while," she told me, hands on her hips.
"I'll come with you."
She raised an eyebrow and looked away, hiding the blush in her cheeks. Why was she so embarrassed?
"Natsu, I'm going bikini shopping, so I really don't think you should—".
"But that's what friends are for, right?" I retorted back, fists clenched. I didn't understand what was so bad about going with her. She sounds as if going shopping with a boy sounds so weird.
Lucy shook her head, almost in an agitated motion—but her blush was still on her face. As she left her house, I contemplated whether I should follow her orders or go after her.
I chose for the latter.
The bikini shop wasn't that far from the guild, but the customers and the shop keeper gave me looks as if I were foreign. Happy shielded himself with his tail, trying to tell me something. His voice was muffled, so I decided to ignore him.
I stood in the middle of an isle, looking around for a certain princess. Her blonde hair was a competitor of the sun; everything around her degraded into a mediocre haze of brown. As soon as she caught sight of me, the black-laced bikini she held in her right hand dropped onto the floor, and she gaped at the sight of me.
"Natsu!" She exclaimed, half- whispering half shouting. Then, she proceeded to look around her; no one was near her so she decided to come out towards me. "Natsu, you shouldn't be here. People'll find you perverted and strange—this is a shop for women!"
Her voice shimmered like gold; but it wasn't as beautiful as her body. She was in the middle of trying out a hot pink bikini, her curves showing like some radient light. She took a step back towards the changing area, jerking on her jumper and trousers. This time, a large blush filled her cheeks.
"I...I," she attempted to make out a full sentence, but failed—instead she flailed her arms around, trying to do something else. "Natsu..." I waited for her to finish. "You BAKA!"
She hurtled a whole arm-length of bikinis towards me, the action too quick for me to comprehend, let alone dodge. This time, many judging eyes flickered towards me, and it suddenly felt like a priority to protect her from everyone else. I grabbed her hand, entertwining hers with my own. Summoning my fire magic, I blasted out of the shop, somehow now carrying Lucy bridal-style.
"Put me down, Natsu!" She squealed as I abruptly stopped. We stood in front of her house, Happy cheerful at the ride he just participated in.
I gave a laugh—these days, I only seemed to laugh because of her.
"Did you enjoy that?" I asked, already knowing the answer.
She hit my chest with clenched fists, and she said with gritted teeth, "No!" But her ferocity died down into cheery laughter. "I forgot to pay," she said at last.
"Consider it as a free treat."
Lucy looked up into my eyes, her lips still spread as if she were still laughing. Her brown eyes reflected my pink, salmon hair, all messed up and unkempt. However, she didn't seem to mind.
With a little push, she crossed her arms. "I still don't forgive you for coming into my house like that."
