Erza
I turned my attention to the protruding shop in the corner—the cake shop. Jellal smiled as he noticed my gaze, a silent gesture which meant we could go.
"Thank you... Jellal," I began to say as we trodded over the pavement.
Jellal didn't say anything for a few moments, but began, "Of course, strawberry cupcakes—"
"No, I didn't mean that," I looked around as the whole guild seemed to be having fun. Their chatter rose until it clouded over the darker afternoon. "Look at what you've done for us, Jellal."
He took a glance and paused in his step. "Not everything I have done is good. I still need to atone—".
No longer feeling his presence beside mine, I stopped in my tracks and looked back. He looked like a fallen angel as he stared at the ground, his light blue hair drooping downwards as if it were trying to reach for its shadow. Light travelled through his neck and ran downwards through his spine, yet the warmth still did not assist him.
"You're not walking in the shadow," I blurted out.
"What?"
"Your sin is my sin. Whenever you say it's your fault, it's hurting me too. So please, please stop blaming yourself." I had never seen this part of myself before. This feeling seemed more brighter, more livelier—as if some primordial sensation finally bursted from my chest.
Immediately turning around to head over to the cupcake shop, Jellal's response was barely audible. But as if the wind rallied it to and back, his words sunk deep into my chest—"Thank you, Erza Scarlet."
As the gentleman he was, he pulled out a seat next to the large window. Seating myself down, I immediately grabbed the menu on the side and flicked through it, attempting to keep my saliva to myself.
The waitress arrived with a pen in her hand. "Hello, darlings," she slurred as if she were drunk, "anything you want from this delicious cake shop?"
I leaned back in my seat to watch her carefully. She was a young, pretty woman with Asian dark brown eyes and black hair. She smirked at Jellal as she flicked some of her hair over her shoulder. "Is he taken?" The waitress asked, keeping her gaze on Jellal.
Shaking my head, I inspected the two with a heavy chest. Jellal allowed her face to come near his, yet he still did not show any emotion. Finally, he locked his eyes with mine.
"I'll have all the cakes here for my date with my girlfriend," he said nonchalantly. My eyes widened for seconds after that, but decided to play along with his act. After all, I couldn't turn down the offer of having all of the cakes.
"That'll be 60,000 jewels," the waitress said, hurt flashing over her delicate features.
"Not exactly. Through my calculations the total cost is 6,500 jewels," Jellal replied and collected the menu off my side of the table. He handed both menus to the waitress with a small smile.
His generous expression was answered by a cold, piercing glare. "You brat!" She snapped her fingers at my face. "I hate you people! Always ruining my plans!" Just as quick of her change of character, she lunged at Jellal. Instinctively I got up, slammed my fists on the table and drew her collar back before she made contact.
She looked up at me in a half frightened and half furious look. "Who are you to call me a brat?" I spat out, pulling her face closer to mine.
"Sorry sorry!" A old man hurried towards us—well sped walk with his walking stick clanking on the cool, marble floor. "Mor here has some... issues."
His body guards pulled me and Mor away. "How about we give your order for free?" I could feel my face turning childish and excited.
Seating myself back onto my chair, I picked up a fork and tissue, ready to indulge. Jellal and the old man seemed relieved at how I reacted to this—though Jellal more amused.
Mor swung her hips from side to side as she made a grand exit. My fingers tightened against the cool, metal fork.
"Here," the old man placed our starter meal on the table. I began to cut slices from the cake with a fork and a knife, and gave a hum as the taste stayed in my mouth.
I caught Jellal staring at me. "What?" I asked, curiosity building in my throat.
He chuckled, "Nothing. I'm just glad... you haven't changed from the last time I saw you."
Confused, I laid down my cutlery... And suddenly the most un-Erza thing came across my mind.
Taking a chunk of strawberry icing, I wiped it across Jellal's forehead. "That's for you for talking nonsense." I smirked at my work as Jellal gazed up at me.
He took a large amount of sweet icing and gracefully slid it onto my nose and cheeks. I was sure I looked like a potato, yet I was grateful for the icing as it hid my blush. Placing my hands on my waist, I shook my head. His look wouldn't do.
I smudged some more icing across his other features, pausing at his lips. It seemed as if I'd stopped breathing as his eyes flickered towards mine, waiting.
"I have more icing than you, which makes it unfair," Jellal stated simply. He pulled out his fingers full of icing and placed his thumbs near my mouth. At this point, I was sure I was breaking.
I jerked back, pushing his shoulders back so hard I thought it was going to snap. I looked elsewhere, searching for my unfinished cupcake.
"Woah, woah woah!" I heard Meredy's voice from afar, "Jellal, you could've just told me you had a crush than lying to me about "missing your friend"!"
I gobbled up my cupcake so fast I nearly choked.
The Video's up!!! I made a new first chapter called "Welcome and Video", and it's there now!
