Staring at herself in the mirror she felt jitters running through her stomach seeming to just climb up her spine. Grayson wanted to look absolutely perfect for tonight, she desperately wanted to impress Draco. She wanted him to think she was beautiful and truly want her.
The light ivory lace dress looked stunning, fitting her body perfectly. Her hair was done in the perfect updo and her makeup, along with that it made Grayson look extremely pure. Her mother did a great job finding the dress, even though according to her friends she looked too innocent to be with Draco... but either way she was rather impressed with the strides her mom was making.
"Oh just stop staring at yourself already you look amazing."
"Ginny you look so pretty yourself!" the best friends embraced. Getting dressed up like this wasn't their thing, but standing side by side in the mirror- together, they couldn't be more delighted.
"I almost can't believe we're going to be attending our first dance together."
"Okay girls lets not keep our boys waiting!" a voice laughed at her younger peers.
Ginny and Grayson gasped as Hermione stood in the doorway. They started badgering her about how she looked beautiful and how they had to know who her date was. Hermione's response was the same as it had been for weeks, "just wait and see!"
The three walked down the corridors making their way to the Great Hall. Everyone attending were dressed up head to do, all the girls looking absolutely stunning. Surprisingly Grayson received a lot more attention than usual, some guys finding her absolutely captivating. She hated all the eyes seeming to be on her it made her uncomfortable- but she wanted to seem confident standing 'tall' besides her friends.
When Grayson spotted Draco at the bottom of the staircase talking to other Slytherin's, her heart jumped. He looked very handsome in his dress suit, his hair combed nice than normal.
"Oh I see Neville." Ginny blushed, "come with me no way am I walking alone."
"N-no! Let's just stay up here."
"Stop being gits and get down there!" Hermione gave them a playful shove and a sweet smile.
Ginny and Grayson descended the stairs together. Their shoes clicked against the tile, drawing attention to their beauty.
Time seemed to stop as Draco caught sight of Grayson. She looked beautiful, and his breath hitched a smile forming. The moment their eyes connected it was like nothing was going to tare that apart.
"Hey..."
"Hi.."
Draco took Grayson's hand, "You look beautiful Yang."
"You look nice yourself Malfoy."
The two blushed. They felt like small school kids with crushes and no clue what to do. Draco felt his cheeks starting to heat up and his throat grew dry. Seeing how beautiful the girl was in front of him filled with pride but nerves too, "w-wanna go inside?"
"Yeah, let's go."
The Great Hall was decorated beautifully, pure white crystals, snow everywhere. The orchestra was playing rather plain music but no one was dancing, they champions would get to do that first... but for the first time in awhile Draco and Grayson were being stared at, people whispering at the sight of the Slytherin and Gryffindor together. Nobody expected them to actually get along, but it was hard to say they didn't look good together.
Draco kept an arm on her waist while they waited for the ball to begin, though everyone kept coming up to Grayson to talk to her making him uncomfortable. People really did like her, and thought she was just as beautiful as he knew.
Soon the music picked up and everyone formed in a line to welcome the champions and their dates. Grayson stood shocked as she watched Hermione walk in besides Viktor Krum. No wonder she didn't say anything.
"Come on, let's go dance!" Grayson excitedly grabbed onto her fiancé's hand to join everyone else onto the floor.
The rest of the night went beautifully and without a hitch. Draco and Grayson found themselves stuck in their own world with each other, holding hands, laughing, talking, it was perfect for them. The Slytherin could feel himself really falling in love with the girl in front of him, and now he knew he wasn't afraid to share it now either.
There was about an hour until midnight and the ball would be over. Grayson was in Draco's arms as they slow danced, her arms around his neck. She rested her head on his chest feeling his comforting stable heart beat.
Feeling his hands grip her waist harder she looked up catching his eyes. The two stopped in place and Draco saw the look of curiosity in her eyes. With his heart beginning to beat out of his chest he decided to be bold, softly placing his lips onto hers. Grayson felt her legs go weak melting into his lips, sparks seeming to fly around them. His mouth warm, lips tentative and experienced seeming.
Grayson pulled away speechless staring up at him, Draco grabbed onto her wrist, "let's get out of here."
The two headed off hand in hand towards the astronomy tower. Neither had words, both still in shock over their kiss. Grayson felt over the moon and like nothing could stop her. Draco felt feelings he had never experienced like this before. But he couldn't wait to get her alone so no one could interrupt such a special moment.
"Some dance huh?"
"It was nice." Grayson was giddy smiling at him, "thank you."
"I enjoyed myself too." stripping off his suit jacket Draco wrapped it around her, "don't argue."
"Thanks."
"Anything for you." Grayson placed herself into his arms with her head once again against his chest,
"Hey Malfoy?"
"Yes Yang?"
Thankful the blonde wouldn't be able to see her blush or smile she asked, "Would you uh, kiss me again?"
"You know, I was actually thinking about doing that again." he smirked pulling up Grayson's chin so he could kiss her once more.
It was a simple peck, their lips connected and then not- but Draco rested his forehead down onto hers, "you really looked amazing today." his arms stayed steadily on her frame, "can I give you something?"
"Continue,"
"There's probably a much more romantic way to do this but I'm sure you don't care," reaching into his pants pocket he pulled out a small ring- one though covered in diamonds and absolutely stunning. Grayson's mouth dropped,
"Draco?"
"We're using real names now?" he joked, "no but since we're engaged, you need a ring."
"I love it.. it's so pretty..." he slid the engagement ring onto her finger,
"There, now everyone really knows we're together."
"Are we- together?" Grayson's chest felt light, body all tingly. She felt so much hope and love- this was what she wanted. And it seemed like he did too.
"Yeah, I'd say so."
