Hiccup and Astrid

hair and braid

When Hiccup, Astrid and Ruffnut get back it was still night, so everyone went to his hut to catch some sleep before the sunrise, except of course ruff who went to eat anything in sight.
The next morning, Astrid woke up with the sound of her hut roof crashing and an unconscious Hiccup on the floor.
Astrid ran to him as fast as she could, kneeled down beside him and she put his head in her lap
"Hiccup, are you Okay?"
He woke at the sound of her voice
"Need to work on the landing, Oh, good morning Astrid"
Hiccup laughed nervously in front of Astrid angry expression but when he noticed something he just stared at her speechless
"How many time did I told not to play with this flightsui...What are you staring at?"
"Wow, Astrid, I had never knew your hair was this long"
She forgot to braid her hair before coming out, so she looked at him with shock
"Oh no, I forgot to braid my hair"
"It's Okay, I'll braid it for you "
Hiccup said watching her expression
"Huh, like you know how to braid hair "
"Try me"
"You're joking, right?"
"No, believe me I can do this"
"Okay, if that worked, I'm gonna kiss snoutlout on the lips"
Astrid said in a confident tone knowing that Hiccup is not able to do it.
Hiccup just grinned and led Astrid to the chair and start combing her hair.
It felt kind of nice having his hands and the comb running through her hair and Astrid immediately closed her eyes, humming in contentment beyond her own will apparently, but Hiccup was still silent. With clumsy fingers he pulled a large portion of her hair to the left of her and began to braid it. Hiccup started braiding, carefully to not hurt her, he was thinking about what she said last night, but he snapped out of it when he reached the end of the braid, he tied it pretty well, then he went to face Astrid to comb her bangs.
When his eyes met hers, his cheeks heated up and he tried to look away.
Astrid saw this and she just found it so cute.
Hiccup stood up and allowed Astrid to look at her hair, she was shocked, it was an excellent braid, she didn't believe it, his braid was even better than hers.
"B-but...how...when..."
Hiccup put his finger on her lips
"No time for questioning, it's time for paying, I'm going to call snoutlout"
"Hiccup, stop, you know that I'm gonna kill you if you do that, don't you?"
"I know, but it's worth to see you kissing snoutlout"
He didn't really mean it
"You know, Astrid, a real Viking doesn't run away from a challenge, does he?"
Astrid held his arm to stop him
"Please, don't do this to me, I'll do anything else, but not this"
Hiccup turned to face her
"You say anythi...mph!"
Hiccup eyes widened as Astrid kissed him, but she pulled away before he could kiss back
"Is that good enough?"
"Of course"
"Tell me, First, how did you learn how to braid hair"
"Remember after the accident, when you didn't came out and spent most of the time sleeping, I tried some styles, just in case for a day like this"
And he left without making eye contact, ignoring Astrid's gasp in surprise.
