It was all messed up, Hiccup and Astrid relationship was messed up, everything was about to break, and it was all because of a huge misunderstanding.
You might be wondering what happened.
Astrid caught Hiccup saying the wrong thing in the wrong moment. He was talking to his night furry about the girl that he didn't notice standing at his door. She heard him saying
"You know what bud?, I think I don't like Astrid anymore, I think she's, I don't know how to put that but......."
She didn't bother to hear what was next, because she stormed to her hut, tears streaming down her cheek.
But little did she know what he said next.
"......but she's just perfect, as I said I don't like her anymore, I love her."
After that day, her attitude changed completely, she was ignoring him, and when he ask her something she just answer him and run away.
Hiccup was worried about it, she never acted that way, it was strange for him to not see her most of the day, talk to her and hear her beautiful voice, enjoy the way she teases him, feel her warm hugs, he missed the way she comfort him, and how that make him feel a lot better.
He just miss everything about her, her way of talking to him, her manners that mostly include violence, her soft whispers, her kisses, everything.
And every time he tries to find out what was wrong with her, she just push him out of the way.
Hiccup had enough of that, it was almost a week since Astrid has talked to him, he was sure this time he will make her talk about what was bothering her.
While Astrid was heading for her hut after dinner, she was suddenly pinned to the wall by none than Hiccup himself, the person she didn't want to see the most.
"What's wrong with you?"
"Astrid, tell me why are you acting that way"
"I don't have to tell you anything"
"Astrid"
"Are you crazy? Let me go"
"Not before telling me the truth"
"Hiccup"
"Astrid, what is that's bothering you?"
"YOU!!"
"Me!?"
"Yes, after what you said, I don't want to see you again, I hate you"
Hiccup grip loosened as Astrid took it as a chance to break free, walking away leaving Hiccup standing with a broken expression.
The next morning, Astrid woke up to a letter beside her bed
" Astrid
I'm doing as you wish you're are not going to see me again, I'm going back to berk, you'll take after the edge, but after hearing what you told me last night
I'm going to leave your world, and never come back.
You might never cry when you see my shadow.
You might never miss me when you feel alone.
You won't hear my laugh or my voice ever again.
There will be no more me to bother you.
Make you laugh, tease you and make you angry then say sorry stupidly to you.
Tears might fall from my eyes, but for sure, I'll never get you back.
I know my silliness, and caring, loving, stupid company of mine cheer you up a bit, but not anymore.
So, I'm so sorry,
For caring about you too much,
For missing you,
I sorry for wanting you everyday,
For always thinking about you before going to sleep,
For feeling upset, if I don't see you,
For wanting to be by your side,
I'm sorry for trying to make you happy,
For wanting you to be part of my life,
For trying to make you smile,
I'm sorry for bothering you,
For dreaming about you almost everyday,
I'm sorry for being mad, jealous or sad,
I'm sorry for being a simple person,
I'm sorry for thinking that you liked me,
For annoying you with my questions and my worries,
I'm sorry for making you care about someone like me,
I sorry for every single mistake I made,
I'm sorry about everything.
And thanks for telling me the truth, that you hate me, I just don't want to stay in your way.

By the time Astrid finished reading the heartbreaking letter, she was outside her hut, standing in the rain, tears sliding down her cheeks.
She fell to the ground, sobbing in her hands.
Realizing her mistake.
