"Well, I'd say that test went well," Hiccup said, something between a grin and a smirk on his face as he looked down at Astrid, Toothless giving a warble of agreement from the edge of the field.
"For you maybe," grumbled a clearly disgruntled Astrid as she continued to struggle against the rope bolas that had her legs lashed together and bound her arms tightly to her side, undeterred by her distinct lack of success. She gave Hiccup a look that was half frustrated, half reluctantly impressed. "I guess they do work pretty well."
Hiccup snorted, amused. "If they can restrain you, one of the best fighters, than I'd say they work better than 'pretty well,'" he said, smiling at her.
Astrid flushed a bit at the sincerity of his compliment and his smile; hoping to cover it up, she coughed and looked away. "Yeah, well, don't let it go to your head too much. And can you hurry up and get me loose?"
Rolling his eyes good-naturedly, Hiccup knelt beside to begin releasing her. "Your wish is my command." Running his hand over the ropes, his hand brushed against her side, causing Astrid to let a strangled sound before instantly falling silent, head turned firmly away from Hiccup, who had frozen, staring at Astrid. Toothless even perked up his ears.
"Astrid...did you just giggle?"
"No," she said quickly. Too quickly.
Hiccup felt a grin begin to grow on his face. "Are you ticklish?"
"NO," she snapped, turning her head to glare at him, only to get a sinking feeling in her stomach when she saw the large grin on his face. "Hiccup," she began, narrowing her eyes at him, "don't even THINK of-"
Whatever she planned to say next was lost to gales of laughter as Hiccup began mercilessly tickling her sides; Toothless cocked his head at the strange antics of the two humans before losing interest and settling back down to his nap.
Hiccup stopped after five minutes, stepping back to enjoy watching Astrid recover, small giggles still leaking out as she calmed down. Once she had controlled her breathing, she gave Hiccup a very unamused look. "You know I'm going to hurt you for that, don't you?"
"Maybe," Hiccup looked unfazed by her threat. "But if you promise not to get me back for that, then I won't have Toothless carry you to the club house of the edge while still tied up and I won't tell anyone what happened here."
Astrid gaped at him; when had Hiccup gotten so evil? She could feel herself blushing at thought of the entire edge seeing her like this. Ruffnut, Snotlout, and Tuffnut would never let her hear the end of it.
No choice. "Fine," she mumbled. "Now get me out of these ropes."
"Well," Hiccup drew out the word, causing Astrid to look at him warily, "I did have few more things I wanted to try while you were like that..."
"Hiccup. Let me go. Now," Astrid ground out, blushing anew at the thoughts running through her mind.
Laughing, Hiccup did so, though he couldn't resist getting in the last word. "Maybe next time then."
