Wintergreen
Frost covers the windows
We were walking around
Making our way uptown
But I slipped
And rolled down the hill
Landing on my arm
Breaking it
Excruciating pain
Here you come
Running down the hill
Tears in your eyes
Whispering
It's my fault
I could barely hear you
Over my own screams
You called 911
And I was getting dizzy
Passing out from pain
I smiled and put I went
I woke up with a cast
Green with your signature
No one in the room
Just whispers floating around
You walked in
And smiled
I tried to speak
But couldn't
I almost freaked out
But you stopped me
And said
You've lost your voice
It's only temporary
Just like this cast
But love is forever
Will you marry me
I couldn't get up
But tears brewed in my eyes
And I shook my head
Saying yes
You kissed me
And kept the ring
I was confused
Till you pointed at my cast
I couldn't wait to have it off
I wanted to marry you
And I still do
We were only 18
You were driving
While I was at home
Texting you
What a mistake
Because you looked at it
And swerved into the other lane
And the woman couldn't stop
So the last thing you saw
Was my message
That was heartfelt
And simple
I love you
It was the first time
I had said it back
And I'm sure you were happy
I'm glad you were before you died
So I stand alone at our wedding
I will marry your soul
To connect us forever
Because life without you love
It's useless
So I stand with my ring on my finger
Doing my vows
Everything I promise you
To love myself
To always wear my ring
To be happy
And no harming myself
We fell in love at 18
And 19 we were married
We are 20 now
Waiting for 21
