Chapter 46

Dinah POV

"Cheylise how do you feel?" I look down at her with sad eyes. Even with the smile placed on her face I know that she's hurt. She starts to frown. "I hurt. Right here." She says as she points to her arm with a cast. "Anywhere else? It's okay you can tell me." She looks up at me and I nod my head. "Right here. Here. And here. It hurt lot." She says as she point to her legs and between her legs. My eyes start to water and I wipe them before the first tear could fall. I know that I have to stay strong for her.
"Did he hit you?" She looks up at me as if she has to ask permission. "Princess you can tell him. I'm right here okay. I'm not leaving." "I only wan to tell you Mami." "But mamas you have to tell him okay? He's trying to help you." She pouts and nod her head. "Did he hit you princess?" She nods her looking at him. "He hit me wit black ting. It hurt bad. He hit here." She said as she points to her arms and legs. "Did he touch you?" Dr. Brown asks her. She shyly nod her head. "Mama told me no let no one touch. I tell him but he no listen. I say stop but he no stop. I scream mama but she no come." She says as she starts crying. I fix her so she's turned to me and hug her. She starts to cry even more. I kiss her forehead crying with her. I wipe my tears then pull her back from my grasp. "Baby it's okay. You have to tell him okay. And then you can get ice cream and candy." Cheylise shakes her head. "Picture?" I nod my head.
"She doesn't want to talk anymore and I'm not going to force her to. Everyday before she was taken she would draw a picture for me. Do you think she could draw her answers? It'd would be a whole lot easier." I ask him. He nods his head. "Anything to make it easier. She's a smart kid. I'm not going to force her to do anything she's obviously been through enough. I'll be back with some paper and crayons of sort." I nod my head and he gets up and leaves out the door.
"Hey princess." She looks at me with tearful eyes. I wipe her tears and face. "Your doing good okay? He's just going to ask some more questions and then your all done." "5?" She asks holding up her right hand. "Maybe ten." She nods her head and goes back to playing with my hands making them clap. "I wuv you Mami." "I love you too princess." 
      Five minutes later Dr. Brown comes back in the room with Regina's backpack and he hands it to me. I take the bag and open it grabbing the notebook and color pencils. "Here princess draw the black thing he hit you with okay?" She nod her head and starts drawing. "Do you think this is going to work? You know her drawing the answers and stuff." He nods his head. "If she's used to drawing pictures for you she must be a person with good memory. If we don't get a lot done during this time I'll come back tomorrow and we can do this again." "I done Mami." I take the paper and look at it. It's a picture of a belt. "Is there anything else he hit you with?" "Mhm he hit me wit a the thing mommy scratch her back wit. Dat why I have the lines." I hand the picture over to Dr. Brown. "Can you tell me anything he said to you?" She looks down. "He say mama bad. He say mama and Mami no love me no more. He say I noting. I no like him. He mean." He writes down on his notepad and nods his looking up.
"Do you remember seeing any other kids?" She nods her head smiling. "I meet Sam, Tyra, and Maria. They told me be big girl." He wrote down on his notepad and closes it. "I think that's it for today. They are going to try and ask Mr. Y/LN more questions and see if anything matches with what he said. And I'm going to try and come up with more questions." I nod my head and he gets up and walks towards us. "Thank you Cheylise. I'll be back tomorrow." He says as he holds out his hand. She gives him a high five and nods her head. "I hope she gets better." He says to me. I shake his awaiting hand. "Thank you."
     He leaves out the room and Cheylise turns to look at me. "You did good princess." "Can I get ice cream and candy now?" I laugh and nod my head. "Wait for mama to come back okay?" She nods her head. "Mami I draw you picture otay?" I nod my head as she starts drawing. There's a knock on the door and it opens revealing the girls, Melanie, my mom, August, Y/N and a women I've never seen before. "There's my nugget." "Titi Lolo! I draw Mami a picture." Lauren nods her head as Melanie and Y/N take their previous seats.
"How did it go?" "It was okay. She spoke a little bit. She didn't want to talk for a bit so I told him about her drawing. I didn't want to force her into talking, but she got comfortable afterwards." She nods her head. "Oh and you have to get her some candy too. I said you would get her candy too." She chuckles and nods her head. She grabs my hand and kisses it. "Thank you a lot babe. I appreciate." "It's nothing baby. It's all for Chey." "No I mean thanking for being there for Chey when Melanie wasn't. I really appreciate it. When she chose you over the both of us I realized how much you was there for her." "Baby it's fine. I knew what I was getting into when you first introduced me to her. I loved her the first day I met her. I love her. Just like I love you." I say as I place a tender kiss on her lips.
"Aye not with the babyeh on ya lap man." August says and I giggle pulling away. "Man between him and Chris I don't know who cock blocks more." I laugh and kiss her cheek.
"August leave them alone and come sit down." Ally says as she pulls him toward her and pushes him on a chair and sits on his lap. I look at Y/N and she raises her hands up as if she surrenders. "I don't know nothing about that." "Chey can tía write on your cast?" Lolo asks her. She nods her head vigorously and smiles. "Everyone do it!" She shouts. Everyone laughs. "Mama I get ice cream and candy?" Y/N nods her head and gets up. "Yeah I'll go get it right now just for you. Babe you want anything?" "Can I get some ice cream too?" She nod her head. "Anybody else want anything I'm going to the cafe." Everyone tells her what the want. "Aug bring your behind. Imma need some help." Ally gets up to sign the cast whereas August follows Y/N out the room. "How did it go?" Melanie asks me. I look down at Chey to see her focus on what everyone is writing on her cast.
"It went good. At first she spoke but then I guess she wasn't comfortable with him so only wanted to tell me. So I came up with her drawing the answers and it worked. Then she started speaking again. I didn't want to force her to speak so we settled for a different option. I think he got a lot out of her considering she's so young." I answer truthfully. "Thank you for being there for her. I know at first I seemed like I didn't care about her and started to come at you and your girls but it's just I was going through some stuff and I didn't know how to deal with it. So I thank you for being there for her." "It's nothing Melanie. So don't worry about it. I can't take your place in her life you still have to be there for her. I know I could never take your place. So just keep doing what your doing. Your doing amazing."
      She looks at me and then leans over and hugs me. I hug back "she needs you more than ever now." I whisper in her ear. She nods her head. We hear the door open and we both pull away. "Y'all okay?" Me and Melanie nod our heads. "You sure? Because not that long ago Melanie was acting like she had a problem with you. Melanie you sick?" She puts everything on the near by table and rushes over to Melanie and touches her forehead. "Dinah babe you sick?" She reaches over and touches mine. "No mama I sick see." Cheylise says as she coughs. "Aw no not my baby. Y'all got her sick!" Y/N says as she picks up Cheylise careful of her arm and holds her close to her chest. Cheylise breaks out in a fit of giggles. Everyone else laughs along with Chey. "Baby girl are you okay? You feel hot? Cold? Awe look at her she's turning red in the face! She got the flu. Imma go get you some soup." I look at the two in amusement. It's good to see Y/N act like nothing happened to Cheylise and joke around with her.
"No mama. I no want soup. Ice cream. I want ice cream." Cheylise says through her giggles. "You can't have ice cream when your sick." "Titi Mani and Lolo give me ice cream when I sick. They give me one with Oreo." Y/N looks at the couple and Mani and Lauren wave at her. "Best friend you wasn't supposed to tell her that. Now she's not gonna let you come over." Cheylise opens her mouth and then puts her hands over it. "Sorry bet friend. Mama can I have ice cream and candy?" "I guess you can since you was good for Dr. Brown." Y/N says as she puts her down and walks to the table grabbing two ice ream cups, spoons, and M&Ms. She walks back over and hands me an ice cream and opens Cheylise's and give each of us a spoon. She puts the M&Ms in the ice cream and then hands it to Cheylise.
"Mommy eat some." Cheylise says as she puts the spoon to Melanie's lips. Melanie eats the ice cream off the spoon and nods her head. "It's good baby." Chey smiles and eats her ice cream.
"Aye Dinah when we gone do that thing?" August asks. I slap my hand against my forehead. Me and August are planning a surprise party for Y/N for her birthday since it's 3 months away. It's really early to start but I just want to get a head start on it so that I can rest from it. "What are y'all going to do? I know you ain't cheating on me with my bro Dinah that's low." I turn towards her and look at her sideways. "Why would I do that? Matter of fact never mind don't even answer that. No I'm not cheating on you with August. He's like a brother to me now." She nods her head and take her seat next to the bed. "Okay just checking." "Checking for what? You think I would cheat on you?" "No." "Then be quiet." She just sat there and watched Cheylise.
"Babe do you hear that?" Lauren says to Normani. "Hear what?" "I hear them." August says. "Hear what?" Ally and Camila says. "The cracking noise." Lauren responds. "Of what?" "That whipped that Y/N got hit by cause her ass is whipped." Lauren says laughing. "Dude that wasn't even funny." Y/N says with a straight face. Normani hits Lauren behind the head, "Shut up because your whipped by me. Now go get me some chicken wings." "Okay." Lauren says as she kisses her cheek and is out the door. We all laugh even Cheylise.

"Bye Chey." The girls say as they come to each give her a hug. "Bye bye. Tia Lolo can I go your house morrow?" "I don't know if you can leave nugget but when you can you can come over okay?" Cheylise pouts and nods her head. Lauren comes and kisses her forehead. "Bye nena." Cheylise waves and then leans back into me. "Mami tired." "Go to sleep princess." "You be here when I wake up?" I nod my head and then she fixes herself so she can sleep. "I think I'm going to leave for the night. I'll be back in the morning when they come talk to her. You guys okay here?" Melanie says. "Yeah we're gonna stay here over night. I don't think I can leave Chey and Chey won't let Dinah leave so we'll stay here." Y/N responds back a yawn following after. She nods her head and leans down and kisses Cheylise's forehead. "I love you baby girl. Bye baby. Sweet dreams." "Bye mommy. I wuv you too." Chey says sleepily.
      Me and Y/N wave at Melanie as she leaves with her mother. "Babe go to sleep I know your tired." I say looking over at her. "No your still up. And so is Chey." "Babe just go to sleep. Chey is about to sleep and I'm tired too. So just go to sleep please." "Fine. Night babe. Night baby girl." "Night baby." I look down at Chey and to see her already knocked out. I turn back to Y/N and see her sleep too. I let out a low giggle. Like mother like daughter. I turn off the tv and press the button to move the bed down and then close my eyes going into a deep slumber.
