*a couple weeks later*
Amari POV
I woke up to an arkward silence as if I wasn't alone in my room. I hesitantly removed my mask and sat up slowly. "Happy 18 Amari LaShay!" my dad and little sister screamed startling me at first. A big smile spread on my face. I was surprised my dad was actually here lets so how long that lasts. Daddy was holding a breakfast tray that had my favorite. Blueberry pancakes, berries, turkey bacon, and a starbucks coffee.
"Thank you" I said grabbing the tray and plopping a blue berry into my mouth. Mariah hopped on the foot of my bed. "Mari you got a letter from mama." she said holding up the envelope. A gave a small smile as I took it from her hands. I sat the tray on my night stand and fiddled woth the envelope.
I still haven't read the first letter from a few weeks ago. Everytime I had the courage to do so I back afraid of what it had to say. I knew she wasn't mad because she wrote back. "Well Amari I have to go to work now. Do you want me to drop Mariah off on my way?" daddy asked me and I heard Mariah suck her teeth.
"Please can you take me." she begged she didn't like when daddy took her because he constantly made stops and would take forever. I laughed and nodded my head. "Don't worry dad I don't mind taking her. You can get going." I said peeling back the sheets and tossing my legs over the side of the bed. "Alrighty then I guess I'll get going." he said as he leaned down to kiss my forehead and then Mariah's.
"Enjoy your day Amari" he said closing my room door behind him. I tossed the letter into my draw desk with my other one. "Why don't you read it?" Mariah asked referring to the letters. I shrugged and began eating my food. "Did you eat anything?" I asked her ignoring her question. She nodded her head and she was already dressed in her school clothes. Which was good because I didnt have to wait for her to get ready.
"Good" I said throwing away my trash and getting up to go in my closet. Why must my birthday be in winter I thought to myself as I analyzed my wardrobe. "Hmm... Too short... Too cold for that..." I mumbled to myself before hearing the sound of the door opening and closing downstairs. "Morning loves" I heard Tasha say as she walked into my room.
"Good morning hun" I said with my back still turned and focusing on what I was going to wear. "Oooo goodie. I made it here just in time. You aren't dressed yet." she said before I heard a bag making noise behind me. I sighed and turned around with my arms folded across my chest. "Tasha you know how I feel about gifts." I whined while watching her bring forth a bag.
She smiled before holding the bag out to me. "And you know I don't give a fuck" she said making me laugh and shake my head. "Happy birthday babes." she said hugging me and rocking us. "Thank you." I said patting her back with my free hand. We pulled away and she looked at me making me furrow my eyebrows. She rolled her eyes "open it!" she said aggravated. "Okay" I laughed as I opened up the bag and pulled out the outfit she had bought me.
