E.M. 30 **New Life**

Months later

Amari POV

"Thank you sir" I said handing the older guy his change and receipt. I gave him a kind smile as he exchanged the smile before tapping his hat and leaving. I closed the register and looked over at the wall to see what time it was.

|2:40pm|

I began wiping off the counters and straightening up my work area. I felt hands wrap around my waist making me jump. Then Jun's familiar chuckled filled my ears accompanied with a kiss. I wiped it off before removing his hands. He sucked his teeth. I could feel his eyes on me. "We're at work"

"So we don't have any customers right now" he said returning to his original spot behind me. To catch you guys up on things you're girl finally got a job! Finally some independence, a girl gets tired of a man taking care of her. Believe me I'm more than grateful for everything they did but its more satisfying that I can handle and do things on my own.

The downside is I didn't technically get this job all by myself. Jun talked to his manager and there was suddenly an opening for a new waitress. Guess you got hired. Anyway besides the new job we're pushing to get our own apartment. I mean the motel is alright but we want something to call our own. Plus it gets tiring having to constantly go out and get food. Also it doesn't look too good for a little girl to be getting off the bus at some motel.

That's why in about 15 minutes Mariah will be walking through our door. Yes I got my little sister enrolled in school down here. I thought it would be a hassal considering I'm not her legal guardian. But I'm over 18 now and the school didn't seem to have a problem. Meanwhile Halloween is next week and I have to find Mariah a costume for her little party. I'm glad she's processing well and making friends. She actually seems happy and that's all I ever wanted.

I'm starting to feel genuinely.. happy again. I smiled to myself as I wiped the windows off. My attention was drawn to wild hair coming down the sidewalk. Her hair could be spotted a mile away I thought laughing to myself. She came in with a neutral face kinda odd that she was smiling as usual but she didn't seem so upset either. I maneuvered around the booth to go greet her.

I guess she didn't notice me because she went straight to her little table near the back of the resturant. I furrowed my brows as I approached her. I ran my fingers through her curly mane. "Wassup love bug. How was school?" She shrugged taking out her school book and favorite pink glittery pen. "Same as yesterday I guess." She mumbled her head now on the table.

She seemed bothered I knew my sister but getting the problem out of her stubborn ass would be difficult. Maybe. "Care to tell me about your day over some tea and cookies?" I suggested kneeling down to her level. I removed her hair out of her face so we could he eye to eye. She didn't make eye contact though she just shrugged. I stood up straight and went into the back to get our favorite mugs and a small plate of cookies.

I heard laughing behind the door leading to the kitchen. It was Jun and Julia. Julia was the other waitress. A dirty blonde with a small frame and pretty blue eyes. She was rather tall for a female but she was very graceful. She has nice tan skin and dimples. She's very pretty but her personality is the complete opposite. To me she's quite annoying at times but I keep my distance so she not that bad. Her Jun and Jackson, another coworker, were friends before I got hired. I actually like Jackson though he's very sweet and soft spoken. His city accent use to be so strange to me but now I'm use to it so.

I'm rambling sorry lol. I rolled my eyes at the loud cackles coming from Julia. "Jun you are a trip" she laughed placing her hands over her chest. She was the first to notice me walk in but pretended that she didn't see me. "Hey babe did Mariah get from school yet?"
