Amari POV
I smiled bitterly and shook my head laughing to myself. "He was right. You ain't no different than the others." I said letting a tear roll down my cheek. He looked at me confused as I turned to face my car and fold my arms. "What do you mean. He was right? I am different Amari" he said grabbing my arm to turn me around. I looked at him like he was crazy "What ima need for you to do is to not grab me like that ever again." I gritted snatching away from him.
"Look Amari it's not what you think... okay it's exactly what you think.." I scoffed nodding my head.. I can't believe I stood up for him. You really think you know a person. "Why?"
"Huh?"
"Why would you lie to me? You knew how I felt about shit like this and you go behind my back anyway!" I said through tears with my finger stabbing him in the chest. He bit his lip staring me in the eyes, speechless. I held my hand up in surrender. "Okay" I said about to open my car door but he grabbed my hand. "Get off of me Jun!"
"Man this is exactly why I ain't tell you! Cause you acting like this"
"Maybe if you ain't keep such a big secret from me I wouldn't be like this. What happened to you wouldn't lie to me that we could tell each other everything?" I was just angry at this point.
"Maybe I ain't want you looking at me different and judging me. Like you're doing right now." He said with hurt in his eyes. I exhaled looking away and pinching the bridge of my nose. "Out of all the jobs out there Jun. You had to chose this one?"
"I didn't chose this job I had no choice"
"What you mean you didn't have a choice I could've help-"
"Look Amari we all don't have rich daddies to help us with stuff. Do you really think people like your dad would hire a hoodrat like me? Be honest Amari! I didn't have a fucking choice! You don't have to see your mom and little sister go to bed hungry. I do! You don't have to stay in a house by yourself while the lights are off cause we didn't have enough money to pay the bill. You don't have to walk to school in the rain and cold because the bus has a restriction of where they wanna go. You don't have to go through the struggle Amari!"
I didn't know what to say. I just listened to him vent and watch the tears that threaten to form in his eyes. The look on his face broke my heart. I opened my mouth to speak but he stopped me. "Me and you are two totally different individuals.. maybe I was wrong for thinking that someone like you would understand."
"Jun... I'm sorry... I'm just.."
"You know what I'm sorry. Sorry for thinking that the two of us could work." He said rubbing his hand down his face. It was an awkward silent as all eyes were on us. I finally decide to speak up but he cut me off. "Amari maybe it's best if we just..."
"Jun please don't finish that sentence..." I said tears stinging my eyes. I closed them before I felt Jun peck my forehead and hearing him call for his sister and Bryson. I opened my eyes to see Jalani looking at me hesitant to leave. "Let's go Jalani" Jun called one last time before she walked away and got into the car. I watched Jun look at me one last time before he drove off out of the parking lot.
I can't believe my luck. From almost getting ran off the road by some psycho. To finding out that my boyfriend- well.. ex boyfriend now.. is a drug dealer... to now. My day can't get any worse. I didn't notice that Iwas still standing there staring off tothe spot Jun once parked his car. "Amari" Tasha called about to approach me but I hurried and got in my car.
I cranked up and pulled out of the parking lot. Letting my emotions take over my driving. Tears blurring my vision as I choked up trying to hold back sobs. Amari, Mariah is in the backseat. Relax. I thought to myself snapping out of it and taking a deep breath. I started to slow down once I reached our neighborhood. I pulled into the drive way and just parked the car.
