Jamison POV

"I apologize again but my uncle needed me to drive him somewhere."

"Uh huh" she said probably rolling her eyes on the other end of the phone. It was silent for a moment I knew she was upset with me. I been busy with my uncle these pass few days. While she was helping Jalani and Bryson out. Right now she was in the waiting room of the doctors office waiting for them.

"Ima make it up to you. I promise" she gave me a mhm before saying she had to go then hung up. I tossed my phone in the cups holder and waited for my uncle to come out the house. "Bout time" I mumbled watching him approach my range rover. He opened the passenger side and plopped down in the seat.

"Who was that on the phone?" he asked pulling out a Newport short and his blue lighter. I cranked up the car ignoring his answer and rolling down the windows. "I know you hear me boy." he said blowing out smoke from the corner of his mouth. I fanned it away from my face and kept driving. He chuckled before putting out the cigarette and throwing the rest out the window.

He knew I hate them shits the smell gives me a damn headache. "I betchu its that girl again. Don't you get tired of her naggin' you?" I exhaled deeply out my nose continuing to look forward. "Nah but I bet she get tired of me setting her up and cancelling on her." I mumbled watching him shake his head in the corner of my eye.

"That girl ain't nothing but trouble.. All these young girls nowadays are." I rolled my eyes behind my dark shades. He was always talking about Tasha being after my money. Trying to trap me and shit. Being no good. A bunch of bullshit. Im fucking 19 I think Im grown enough to date whoever the fuck I please without his consent.

"She's too much of a distraction. You need to stay focused Jamison. You already failed me once trying to run after that girl that night." he said looking down at his phone at hand. I glimpsed at his one good eye and the other one that covered with an eye-patch. My mind flashed back to that night.

I never seen Tasha cry before and just watching her breakdown as I held her in my arms... I didn't know what to do. I felt bad and instant guilty feeling... I was the cause of her tears. I was in fault of everything trust me I didn't want to do it. If I had a choice I wouldn't have even been a part of it. There's a lot of things I've done... Things that I am far from proud from. People have gotten hurt by those things... Families have gotten ruined.. Lives had been taken.. And they had me to blame.

But those times don't compare to this one. I never been the type to have friends or even associates for that matter. Hell my uncle was the only  family I had. After my father died from doing crack, my mother basically died along with him. She wasn't the same... She started getting depressed and eventually became an alcoholic. My sister urged her to find happiness and date someone would probably help. Me and my big brother was against it at first but if it Maude her happy we was with it. Thats until she started bringing home these no good clowns that ain't do nothing but put her down more.

They came and went with the seasons although one did stay. He was good at first but along the line he started changing. It started with him verbally abusing my mom to him physically abusing her. Him and my big bro got into because he was trying to fuck with our sister. That man was sick... Why would a grown man take interest in a 10 year old girl? Fucking disgusting. Mama eventually kicked my brother out said he been overreacting and she didn't want no more drama in her house hold.

I was the next to leave... I'll never forget that night...

***

I was in my room listening to music. Bopping my head and sketching in my notebook. Until I heard something crash in the front room. My head popped up with my brows furrowed together. I slowly started back my drawing then I heard again before yelling. I bolted up off my bed and jetted out the door. When I walked in the living room all I saw was mama holding her face. A small patch of blood staining the carpet.
