Amari POV
"That was fun" Jun said as he parked the car infront of a large building. I had no idea where we were but this was far further than right down the road. "On the way back Im driving" I said making him chuckle as I unbuckled my seatbelt. "Where are we?" I asked him when he opened my door for me.
He helped my out the car and shut the door behind me. "Can't you read?" he asked pointing to the building. The name Tony's was painted on the door in green cursive letters. I sucked my teeth and pushed him making him laugh. "Shut up." I said following close behind him into the building.
Despite the outside of the building the inside was nice. I saw small families and couples. They all looked so happy and the place smelled amazing. A blonde girl came up to us with a friendly smile on her face. She was the nicest looking person I have came in contact with since I came across this neighborhood.
I looked down at her name tag that read Dakota. "Hi my name is Dakota. I will be your waitress for this afternoon. Follow me and I will show you to your table." she said before picking up menus from the front desk and then turning on her heels. We followed behind her towards the back near the kitchen. The place was packed but I could see why the food looked and smelled delicious.
We were seated near the kitchen next to a window. The resturant was dim with the acception of the lamp that hung over the table. We got into the booth and got settled before she placed our menus in front of us. Shortly a dark skin guy with a fade cut camw by and dropped off some fresh hot rolls.
"Would you two like to hear our specials for this evening?" she said looking between us two. Jun looked at me waiting for my response. I shrugged and then he nodded. She handed us a sheet of paper that had a few meals listed on it. It all looked so good I didn't know what to order.
"Perhaps you two can order the drinks and I will come back when you're ready" she suggested and we both nodded. She pulled out her notepad and pen and waited for us. "I will have the strawberry lemonade please." I said as she jotted it down.
"I'll have the sweet tea thanks." Jun said and she nodded her head before writing it down. "Okay i will be back shortly with yalls drinks." she said before walking off into the kitchen. I continued to look around at the scenery. "My mom use to bring us here when we were younger. My neighborhood ain't that bad right?" he said catching my attention.
I shrugged and looked over my menu. "I was a little afraid when I pulled up to your house." I admitted and Jun looked at me funny. "Noo. Amari Jackson. Scared? Ha" he chuckled before crossing his arms across his chest. I playfully rolled my eyes not looking up from the menu. "Do tell what had you so scared." he said as our drinks came to us and were placed on the table.
"Well for starters your neighbors aren't the kindest or most polite" I answered sipping on my lemonade. "Yeah. They good folks though. Especially next door." he said adding packa of sugar to his tea. I swallowed before speaking "oh my gosh that pit next door had me about to shit my pants." I said with wide eyes as I remembered how vicious the dog had looked. He almost choked on his drink trying not to laugh. He cleared his throat "You talking about Duchess?" I nodded my head and he chuckled shaking his head.
"She old as dirt and wouldn't hurt a fly. You just a little punk" he teased as he continued laughing. I scoffed at him "well she sure didn't seem so harmless. I was afraid she would jump over the fence and eat Mariah whole." I said making him laugh even harder almost choking again. "You are so dramatic man up." he said and I couldn't help but to laugh with him because I had told Mariah that in the car earlier.
"Shut up Jun. Don't get me started with these old perves that stay across from you." I started and he looked at me funny as he sipped on his tea. "What did they do or say to you?" he asked and I rolled my eyes remembering his perverted comment. Jun cracked up at how disgustes I looked and how I mocked the guys voice.
