**Amari and Mariah's father in the media**

Previously on Enlighten me

Amari POV
"Where are we going?" I asked him double tapping on my phone. He didn't answer right away making me look up at him. "I told you where we were going."

*****
Jun POV

"Why?" I heard Amari say softly hardly above a whisper. "Huh?" "Jun why did you bring us here?" she said still focusing her eyes on the great big building ahead of us.

****
Her eyes grew glossy as she looked at her daughters. Mariah stared hard at her mother while Amari tried to look anywhere but at her. "Mariah dear." she said stretching out her hand to her.

Amari POV

"I almost forgot what it felt like to be a mother." she said. I chuckled to myself shaking my head causing them to look at me funny. "Whats funny?" she asked shuffling cards I hesitated debating with letting these words come out my mouth.

Amari POV

"Its nothing I just see it funny how..." I started until I felt a firm hand clinch my knee. Jun glared at me and I bit the corner of my lip. Mama looked at us funny as she passed out cards. "What were you gonna say?" she asked with a raised brow. I bit on my lip shaking my head while Jun kept a grip on my knee.

I sighed "the mother I once knew told you me if you didn't have anything nice to say don't say it." I said picking up my cards. I felt a hole getting stared into my face. "Amari" Jun whispered and I ignored him as I fixed my hand. My mom cleared her throat "what do you mean by that?" she questioned.

I laughed looking up at her and meeting her eyes. My vision began to blur with tears. "I can't." I said standing up and grabbing my phone. Jun reached for my hand but I yanked it away. "I refuse to sit up in here like everything's perfect when its not. That is not the mother I know! The Melanie Jackson I knew loved me and would never leave me. That woman is long gone and is not coming back. I don't know who this woman is infront of me." I said fighting back tears as a lump grew in my throat.

I saw the look of hurt in her eyes as she stared at me. A tear rolled down her cheek. "Amari-" Jun said getting cut off by my mom. "Its okay. She's right... Im not the same woman from back then but I've changed. Im trying to get better" she said and I laughed shaking my head.

"You shouldn't have chose those damn drugs or man over us in the first place! You're the reason why Im like this... Why I can't trust no one or why I can't let anyone love me... You're the one that fucked me up. Why dad is never home anymore. You broke our family!" I snapped now letting the tears flow from my eyes.

Mama jumped up from her chair and walked around to where I was. Before I knew it I was smacked across my face. I held my face staring at her in shock. I felt Jun muscular arms wrap around my torso. "No you will watch how you talk to me. I may have messed up and made a lot of horrible mistakes but god dammit I am still your mother and you will respect me!" she yelled with her finger in my face.

"Bullshit! I don't see why my father put up with you anyway. He gave us everything and you was so ungrateful. Did you even realize how much of a great thing you had? Look at us... You threw us away for him?" I asked blinded by tears and overwhelmed with emotions.

"God dammit Robert is not your father!" she blurted out making my eyes widen in shock. I froze like it literally felt like time stood still. Mama covered her mouth before a guard came up and tapped her on the shoulder. At first she didn't budge she just looked at me. "Ms.Jackson your visiting hour is over." the tall officer said towering over her.
