Robert POV
I squinted my eyes with a frowned up face as I woke up to the sound of my doorbell going off. I looked around to find myself asleep on the recliner. My paper work all scattered across the coffee table with my laptop in my lap. Surprisingly my coffee still in grasp from the early morning. My doorbell continually rung making my groan as I decided to get up.
I stretched while rubbing the the sleep out of my eyes. "I'm coming!" I spat getting annoyed by the constant ringing. I finally opened the door revealing a big surprise. "I wasn't expecting you all to come over." I said moving aside so they could come in. "Well duh we figured you'd stop us from coming if you knew." I just shook my head a grin plastered on my face.
She smiled at me for a moment before making her way to the kitchen. "Well don't just stand there. Help the girls get the bags out of Tasha car." I furrowed my brows before looking outside to see the girls bringing bags up my walk way. Innocent smiles formed on there faces as they approached me. "I told you that you couldn't spend the day alone Mr. Jackson" Tasha said winking before sliding pass me while Jalani just smiled.
I shook my head at the girls. I took my coat off the hanger behind the door and tossed it on. Before I knew it a thanksgiving feast was scattered around my kitchen. The girls were whipping up some of everything. "It's a little quiet in here. Let's turn on some music." Tasha said pulling out her iPhone and scrolling to find some music.
"I don't think Mr. Jackson wants to hear any of your trap music." Janet chuckled stirring cake mix in the bowl. She kissed her teeth "Oh yeah. Let me find something more in yall time." I raised a brow at her.. what does that suppose to mean. "Alright Ms. James you want Bach or Beethoven?" I chuckled at Janets face expression. Her mouth was ajar with wide eyes.
She tossed flour over at Tasha making us laugh. "Girl I am not that old." She said giving her a playful scowl. Tasha continued to giggle before the sound of I believe Chris Brown voice filled the room. "I know I'm just kidding." I walked over to Jalani who was peeling eggs for potatoe salad.
"Need some help. Looks like you have a whole chicken coop over here" I said as I washed my hands. She giggled softly before nodding and making room for me. I grabbed an egg but quickly tossed it once I felt the heat. I shook my hand earning laughter from the girls. Janet kissed her teeth before coming over to me. "You're so sad. Can't even peel eggs right." She teased turning on the cool water and running it over the egg as she peeled it.
Spending the day cooking with the girls brought back some good memories. Made me think back to the good old days. When my family was a whole and I didn't work so much....
"Like this mama?" Amari said pouring the ingredients in the bowl to mix. They were making my favorite.. sweet potatoes pie. "Yes baby. Now hold this for a second okay?" Melanie told her before going over to the stove to check on the turkey. "Perfect. Robert do you mind passing me the knife" I stopped what i was doing with Mariah to hand her a knife.
"Mariah nooo!!!" Amari yelled before we heard the sound of the mixer turn on. Her squeals soon filled the air. "What on earth are yall- Aahhh! Mariah!" Melanie yelled shielding herself from the mix that splattered everywhere. I ducked behind her to shield myself from it. Chuckling as she continued to yell and complain about the mess. Once she finally reached it and turned it off she held it. She glared over at the girls who went from giggling to frowning.
