Amari POV
I was in the kitchen preparing Robert's medicine and his lunch. Robert is the man I thought was my father for all my time of living. Im not saying I have confirmation that he isn't but Im not letting anything get pass. Its been a few weeks since that incident and like I said. I took matters into my own hands.
Tasha mother is a doctor and works at the near by hospital. Im not proud of going behind his back and not believing his words but I needed accurate and honest answers. I figured if I received the results from the DNA test it would rid me of some questions and maybe help me find out some other things.
I also took the liberty of getting Mariah tested too. I don't know just out of curiousity I guess. I knew that if he wasn't our father then me and Mariah wouldn't need to be staying in this house with this man. I would take Mariah and we would start a new life together somewhere after we graduate. I still haven't planned everything through yet though.
As far as you know. Where we would go or how I would be financially stable. I have money saved in the bank under my name for college but was I really willing to sacrifice college to get away from all this. If I ran away how would I recieve the answers that I needed to know. For all I know the answers could be right under my nose.
"Amari!" Mariah yelled shaking me and snatching me from my thoughts. "Yes Mariah" I asked kind of annoyed as I looked down at my little sister. "Daddy needs his medicine and his pump now. He weezing again." she said and I nodded before picking up the tray with his lunch on it and following behind her to his home office.
My dad- Robert, suffers from allergies and asthma and due to the changing of the weather he gets it bad. You would think that would stop him from working but you thought wrong. Mariah opened the door to his office revealing him behind the desk with papers scattered in front of him. He was coughing and trying to clear his throat only to cough more harshly.
He looked up at us before waving us over. "You need to call in and tell them to give you the day off." I nagged as I sat his lunch tray down infront of him. He shook his head still clearing his throat. "I have to finish... By the end of the day." he said and I shook my head.
He started coughing again and started searching his desk drawers for his inhaler. I sighed and pulled his pump out of my back pocket. I handed it to him and watched as he inhaled the medicine. After that his coughing somewhat ceased down a bit. Mariah pushed him his allergy medicine and he gave her a weak smile. "I don't know what I would do without you two." he said messing up Mariah's hair.
My phone vibrated in my pocket signaling a text from Tasha.
Best💪👭💕: Wya? We waiting on you
I texted her back telling her that I was on my way. Today I would be hanging with them today. They claim I been stuck in the house and never chill with them anymore. Honestly with me taking care of Mariah and Robert along with preparing for college. Not to mention studying for finals. I really didn't have the time.
"Is there anything else?" I asked picking up his trash for him and disposing of it. He shook his head as he sipped on his coffee. "No Im good. Go on and hang with your friends." he said making me leaned down so he can kiss my temple. I gave a weak smile before grabbing my jacket off of the arm of one of his chairs. I walked towards the door with Mariah right behind me.
"Go get your stuff so we can go" I told her while I grabbed my purse and phone off the coffee table. She disappeared up the stairs to her room. I waited for her by the door with my keys in hand. Soon she appeared in the den with her little minnie mouse backpack and coin pouch. "Im ready now Mari" she beamed making me smile down at her as I opened the door.
