A week til Christmas

Jun POV

"Ima make mine pink." Mariah said stirring red food coloring into her cupcake icing. We were all making cupcakes for her little Christmas party she was having at school. Well more like me and Mariah since Amari was out getting some things for Christmas dinner. "Are you excited to see who your secret Santa is?"

She nodded enthusiastically showing off her missing teeth. "Yes! I hope it's Ruby. She always makes nice cards and stuff in art class."

"Who do you have?" I said making green icing. She furrowed her brows in thought. Before her eyes widen and smiled "Ciara! Omg I have to get her her gift." I hushed her

"You forgot that she's right across from us right?" I chuckled watching her cover her mouth. "My bad." She giggled and then we heard the jingle bells signalling that Amari was back. The door shut and we heard bags hit the floor. "Amari!"

"Can I get a second to breathe before my name getting called." She said with a sigh as she made her way to the kitchen. "Yes little one?"

"I have to get my gift for secret Santa."

"Isn't that not til Friday?"

"Yea but I have to find something nice. She's my best friend Mari."

I looked at her confused "I thought Diana was your best friend"

"No babe that's Ruby." Amari said taking a bottle of apple juice out the fridge.

"Wait what about that girl Liyah??" I asked making Amari nod her head before swallowing her juice out her mouth. "Yeah what happened to them?" She asked.

Mariah smacked her forehead shaking her head. "I'm not talking about them"

"Then who are you talking about" Amari asked stealing some icing from my bowl.

"Ciara" she said in a duh tone. I shook my head at her while Amari just laughed. "You have way too many best friends."

"No you see. I only have one bestest friend. It's not my fault everyone wanna be my friend" She shrugged making a mess as she tried to fill the plastic bag with her icing. Her face showed concentration but most of the icing was outside the bag than inside. "Let me help you with that." Amari said grabbing the spoon and bag from her. The room fell silent as we all started working on our cupcakes.

We finished up placing them on a large tray and sliding them in the fridge. Amari covered them in clear wrap. As we were cleaning up Mariah started talking. "Amari. Do you ever think daddy moved?"

Amari stopped and looked at her kind of surprised. "I'm not sure love. Maybe, maybe not."

"He should cause that's a big house to be in by himself" which was true. They house was big for no reason. Sometimes it makes me feel some type of way cause they had moved from that to this. Which is nothing compared to what they grew up in. Amari never had to work a day in her life because her father had everything taken care of even from afar. Mariah didn't have to want for nothing cause her dad would buy her something new every other month. I could only imagine Christmas for them.

Sometimes I think about home. About Bryson, Mama, and Jalani... I chuckled to myself... even Tasha and Jamison crazy asses. I looked up at Amari as her and Mariah finished touching up the small Christmas tree Mariah picked out. It was white and she also decided to make it have all types of colors and ornaments. It was pretty and very colorful. Believe or not this the first time I had a Christmas tree on Christmas.

As I looked at Amari and Mariah I couldn't help but smile. I just wanna give them what they deserve. I appreciate her husseling with me and riding for me but I know she probably gets tired of working. I know her future plans was far from this. She wanted to go to school she wanted to be a pediatrician and I can't help but feel like I influenced her to let go of all that.
