A/N Hey guys sorry for not updating in a while. The song in the media is from the show We Bare Bears and is sung by Ruby's voice actor. I thought it went well with this one-shot so please enjoy! Also if any of you are Undertale trash such as myself, please check out my small one-shot The True Heroine. Thanks!

Take a deep breath in.

Sapphire tried to calm herself down as she stared at the blank ceiling.

And out.

Even though she was alone, lying on the couch, she felt crowded and overwhelmed with her own thoughts.

In.

She needed a break and she knew it. After all that's why she and Ruby unfused. Because she needed a break.

Out.

Ruby just...wouldn't understand. At least that's what Sapphire tried to tell herself. Sapphire knew she was acting unreasonable. But she also knew there was nothing she could do until Ruby got back. Sapphire hoped that wouldn't be too long.

~Three Hours Earlier~

Garnet paced around the dark empty house. Steven was spending the weekend with Greg. Pearl and Amethyst were going to go see a concert a few hours away. Garnet had the whole temple to herself.

As she paced she felt strangely unstable.

"Are you alright?" She asked herself under her breath.

"I'm fine," She answered back.

Garnet sighed. Something was definitely wrong and she knew she couldn't hold out forever. She decided to deal with whatever this was before the others got back and unfused.

"Sapphire?" Ruby asked quizzically, unafraid to show her worry for the blue gem, "What's up?"

"It's nothing," Sapphire shook her head, not looking at Ruby and instead staying in her own space.

Ruby had seen her get like this before although not often. It hurt her whenever Sapphire did this, closing herself off from her.

"Doesn't seem like nothing," Ruby said quietly. She sat down on the couch, patting the seat next to her for Sapphire. Sapphire joined her and leaned her head on Ruby's shoulder. Ruby ran her hand through Sapphire's hair comfortingly. They stayed like that for a few minutes.

"Do you want to talk about it?" Ruby asked, twirling a particularly long piece of hair. Her voice remained soft and welcoming, "You know you always can with me."

"I know," Sapphire said numbly, "I just needed some time apart. To collect my thoughts."

"Thoughts on what?" Ruby questioned.

Sapphire shook her head, "Nothing important."

"Seems important to me if it broke up Garnet," Ruby turned so she could face Sapphire. She took her hands in her own, running circles around them with her thumb.

"It didn't break up Garnet," Sapphire defended sharply, "I unfused on my own accord." She pulled her hands away and turned from her.
