Dodgeball Part 1 ~14~

The following Friday, it was the day of the duel.

On my team, I had Aphmau because she was small and she dodges the balls well, Nicole because she's a good athlete, Garroth because I bribed him not to go on Travis' team. Since Garroth was on our team, of course Laurence joined.

That made 5 on our team.

On Travis's team? Hah!

He had Dante, Aaron; which is very much worrisome, McCloud, his swim team buddy as he said, and Brendan. I don't know why Brendan. Maybe he didn't know who else to ask?

"Did you bring the balloons?" I yelled to Travis.

He smiled. "Oh yes I did! And not only is it water balloons, it has paint in it! Your side gets blue balloons while we get green balloons."

I smirked in satisfaction. "Oh this is going to be a great game."

"So where are we going to do this?" Aphmau asked and we all paused.

Where were we gonna do this?

We ended up going to this place that was closed down, so they wouldn't mind paint all over the place. Right? It's basically a haunted mansion.

The windows were shattered place to place, and the building looked a bit like it was going to collapse. Some parts of the metal were rusted and looked old. There were some graffiti around the two story building. There seemed no sign of life, and the place seemed very much haunted.

"D-Does it really have to be here?!" Garroth stuttered as we entered the place.

"Well it doesn't seem like there's much other choice." Brendan said seeming very nervous.

"It's ok buddy I'm here for you." Laurence said placing a hand on Garroth's shoulder.

"What are u guys wetting your pants for! This is so exciting!" Nicole cheered and I fist bumped her. Dante chuckled at her enthusiasm.

"I am not wetting my pants!" Aphmau said with a pout. She seemed really tense.

"You do seem pretty scared." Aaron said as he patted Aphmau head.

She pouted but she blushed a bit. Her tense shoulders relaxed a bit. I guess she felt safe when she was with Aaron.

"Ok let's go on our own sides!" Dante yelled as we ran to opposite ends of the building. Aphmau was grabbing onto my arm, Nicole was cheering and Garroth and Laurence were laughing about something together. Those guys are really close friends.

"The battle starts at 4:00!" Travis yelled from across still running towards his side.

I checked my phone to see it was 3:55. So I guess he gave us time to do some planning.

"So what's the plan?" Laurence asked. "The plan is to crush them all!" I yelled.

Aphmau face palmed. "No we need a legit plan. If we don't we're gonna be absolutely crushed!"

"Crushed by Travis' team? No way! Like look at their team mates."

"Yes! He has Aaron, which is probably the most physically advanced out of all of us and they have Brendan!" Aphmau said in worry.

"What's the deal about Brendan?" I asked her shocked as to how she mentioned him as an advantage.

"Don't you remember! He's one of the smarter people in our grade along with Teony! Don't you realize how Teony always seems to see Brendan as an enemy!?"

My mouth shaped an 'O' shape as I remembered as to how smart Brendan was. I guess his team wasn't completely made of fools. I guess McCloud has stamina. The only fool is probably Dante.

"It's ok we'll do great!" I said trying to sound as positive after hearing what Aphmau said.

"Uh. I have a plan. Do you wanna hear?" Garroth asked.

I shrugged. "Why not? Go ahead."

After he finished telling us the plan it was almost 4:00. We quickly got in our positions and hid behind anything we could find.

I crouched behind a table, my heart beating fast. Why was I so nervous!? They're nothing but wimps.

My foot started to ache and so I shifted into a more comfortable position.

When the clocked ticked to four, I heard war cries from across the room. I stayed put where I was hoping the others were doing according to plan.

The plan wasn't much, but it was better than nothing. I saw Laurence and Garroth taking action and doing according to plan.

I spotted Dante and Travis close to me. I scanned the surroundings making sure that no one else was around and made eye contact with Nicole.

We nodded to each other and we jumped out of our hiding spot. I quickly punched Travis and he went down with a yelp. Nicole tripped Dante and he fell down as well.

We threw paint balloons at them with a satisfied smirk.

"That's not fair! No violence!" Travis hissed and I furrowed my eyebrows at him.

"Oh I'm sorry. I don't think there was anything like that listed in the rules let's see. There was 'once hit, unable to do anything until a teammate finds the hidden treasure box and gives them the bracelet inside.' And so on. But nothing about violence." I said mentioning that rule on purpose.

"Enjoy being stuck there losers." Nicole said sticking her tongue out at them.

We laughed together and walked away to continue the plan.
