Chapter Twenty; Nighttime Chat
Ginnie Matthews
Oh my god!!!!
How many times can my heart break in one night?
Tyler and Olivia.... How awful! I am SO stupid. I thought he ACTUALLY LIKED ME!
Stupid, stupid, stupid!
It only makes sense that he likes somebody like Olivia... She's prettier, more popular, and has bigger boobs! But they're probably fake...I mentally added. B*tch. I pushed through the crowd and started trudging up a hill where I saw a bench perched at the top. I got up there and sat down, gazing up at the sky. How can such a beautiful night feel so... Awful? I shuddered. This SUCKS! I huffed in annoyance and kicked at a rock. "Beautiful night, eh?" I heard a boyish voice call a few feet away from me.
"Tyler, look, you don't need to feel sorry for me. I get it, okay? You like Olivia and I just need to acce-" my ranting was cut off by the same voice.
"Good thing I'm not Tyler."
I turned around and saw Oliver standing there, his hands buried deep in his pockets and his head cocked slightly to the side. "Here to join my pity party?" I asked.
He came over and sat next to me "Sure, seems a lot cooler than what's going on down there."
"What about Jessica?" I questioned.
"I-I don't think she likes me that much," he frowned and looked away from me.
"Oh nonsense, how could she not like you?" I playfully ruffled his hair.
He shook his head"So... Care to tell my why you're up here all alone?" He asked.
I just kept staring off into the distance. "C'mon, Gin.." He poked my sides causing me to giggle "don't make me take out the big guns."
I giggled again and turned my head to the side indignantly. "Oh, now you're asking for it!" He laughed and then started tickling me all over. I couldn't stop laughing!
Eventually, when I had laughed so hard my cheeks hurt, I decided to surrender.
"Fine! Fine! You win!" I laughed, throwing my hands above my head in surrender.
"That's my girl!" he said, then blushed after realizing the implication.
The wind was really starting to pick up and I shivered when a particularly strong gust hit against me. He seemed to notice. "Oh crap! Right, um, here!" He took off his sweater and put it over my shoulders.
"So, ready to talk about it?" he asked.
"Ok, fine. Everybody said Tyler was gonna ask me out, and I got really excited and I even got dressed up and everything but then I walked outside and there he was, kissing Olivia," I laughed into the wind "and now I'm pouring my heart out to you and you probably think that I'm crazy!" I started to choke on sobs.
"Shhh," he cooed.
Without thinking, I grabbed a fistful of his shirt and started to sob into his chest. He wrapped his arms around my torso and rubbed soothing circles on my back. "Yah, you know I love Tyler but sometimes he can be a real ass," he whispered.
I nodded into his chest. "He'd be lucky to have you," he concluded and I choked on another sob.
