Chapter Thirty Five; Man Up

Oliver Newman

Alright, I gotta do this. I gotta man up, and I gotta dump her. Ah, sh*t. What if she cries? She's not gonna cry, I remind myself. She's Jessica. She's strong, I'm the coward. I internally scoff at myself for being so stupid. After last night, I swore with myself, and Tyler (but mostly myself) to stop treating girls like crap. So, I'm a new man now.

Wait... Maybe I can find a way not to dump her? Like there are ther ways to play this out! Maybe I could keep dating her and get her to break up with me, or get somebody to do it for me. This one sounded particularly appealing. As I continued pondering on the situation, I reached the bus and saw Jessica talking to Ginnie and Bailey. Oh, well, I guess I'll just talk to her later. I saw Tyler and Tanner standing together in a clump of people and strode over to meet them. Tyler nodded his head towards Jessica -probably asking me if I dumped her- and I shook my head no.

He did too.

Why is he making a 'disappointed dad' kind of face? Cause' frankly, I'm pretty sure I left mine at home. "Tanner, c'mere," I chanted.

No reply. I turned to face him. "Tanner?" I tried again.

Nothing. Is he ignoring me? I turned to face him and saw that he wasn't even looking at me. I followed his gaze a couple feet to Bailey, laughing and smiling. He's a goner. I also happened to let my eyes linger on Jessica for a couple of seconds, who caught me staring and smiled a sad smile. It was a 'we need to talk because there's been a lot of drama we need to clear up' kind of smile. Crap.
