Chapter Fifty Two; Oliver COULD possibly be some sort of alien
Tanner Gordon
I sat at the table along with Bailey, Ginnie, and Jessica, feeling EXTREMELY uncomfortable. The only thing that kept me in my seat was the smile on Bailey's face. I know this sounds super sappy, but that goddamn smile was literally one of the most perfect things I have ever seen, and I will do ANYTHING I can to be the cause of it.
Which is exactly why I spent at least TWO HOURS on the phone last night with Tyler and Oliver, persuading them to sit with us at lunch today. Sadly though, it didn't seem to occur to them that I also meant BEING ON TIME.
Where were they???
I'm guessing Bailey could sense my nerves because she reached under the table and squeezed my hand. Without thinking I closed my fingers around hers, keeping her hand there in mine, but not looking up to meet her eyes. She squeezed my hand again and I squeezed back gently, trying to tell her that I was here for her. I knew she got the message when I saw her softly smile at me out of the corner of my eye, and I could feel the ends of my mouth tugging up into a small smile of my own.
Finally, I could see Tyler and Oliver approach us quickly, Oliver's eyes glued to Jessica the WHOLE freaking time he walked over.
If he didn't ask that girl out soon, I swear to the gods that I will personally see to him getting his brain checked to make sure there is no severe STUPIDITY any of us should be aware of.
In the event that I'm right, though, let me just state that I've had my suspicions now for years. Many, many years.
Just when I finished thinking over my theory that Oliver COULD possibly be some sort of alien disguised as a human who was sent here just to be an idiot, the boys reached our table and sat down, Oliver never taking his eyes off Jess.
After I saw that Oliver was busy eye-raping Jessica and Tyler and Ginnie were engaged in conversation, I turned to Bailey and smiled.
"This is happening, we're all hanging out together!" she beamed at me.
"Yah, it's great," I agreed with her.
She paused, taking in my face for a moment. "Penny for your thoughts?" she asked.
I hesitated, before asking, "Do you think Oliver could be some sort of alien?"
Bailey bursted out laughing. Oh my god did she have an attractive laugh. I laughed along with her.
"I never know what to expect with you," she stated after laughing.
"Is that a good thing?" I smirked.
"A great thing," she smiled at me.
Just then, I looked up just in time to see Oliver and Jessica's retreating backs exiting the cafeteria.
Wow, maybe he actually does have a brain and is gonna finally man up enough to ask her out.
"Oh, look! Some seats just opened up! Perfect!" a shrill voice squealed and immediately I knew who it was.
Oh god... I turned around in time to see Olivia, Denise, and Paige sit down at our table.
"I think one of you losers forgot to invite us," Denise smiled.
Well, shit.
