Chapter 13

(Y/N)'s POV

I had just finished packing my suitcase, Steph and Mitch invited me to come on the first roadie of the season with the team, I wouldn't pass it up! I loved watching hockey, I'm Canadian, it's in my blood. I was born and raised a flames fan but the leafs are my second favourite team so it was always just as fun to cheer them on.

We were leaving early in the morning and it was already 10pm. I haven't talked to Auston since he left the cactus club cafe with that girl the other night. It's always right when things are looking up for us, they just go wrong again.

I'm not blaming Auston, but it is his fault that our friendship or relationship or whatever this fucking was, was like this. Clearly I was thinking way too much because I didn't even notice Steph come into my room, or sit on my bed beside me, or put her hand on my forearm.

"Hey! (Y/N)! Hello?" she said, I jumped out of my trance, apologizing for being so distracted

"Sorry Steph! I was just thinking." I giggled, trying to make her think I was thinking about something funny.

"Don't let Auston get to you like that!" She exclaimed.

How did she know?

I looked at her with a puzzled expression.

"Oh, don't tell me you weren't thinking about him, he's been on your mind, it's pretty obvious." She sighed

Being best friends with her was weird, it's like she ALWAYS knew what I was thinking. I just shook my head, she got me this time.

"Steph, I'm gonna take a bubble bath and then head to bed." I gave her a hug before walking into the washroom.

I played soft music in the bath, I was trying to relax, I heard my phone chime, indicating that I got a text.

Auston Matthews
"You're coming on the roadie right?"

Me
"Yep!"

Auston Matthews
"You and Steph are coming on the plane with the boys?"

Me
"Yea I think Sydney and Lex are too."

That's so random that he would text me, he never really does unless he needs something or he's trying to find Mitch.

After my bath I went to bed and instantly fell asleep

I woke up to the one and only Mitch Marner, JUMPING on my bed, and yelling "wake up wake up wake up!"

I wasn't pleased to say the least.

"I'm going to need to go to Starbucks." I groaned, rolling out of bed and throwing on a pair of lulu lemon shorts, a black Calvin Klein cropped sweater and black NMD's.

"The princess needs Starbucks!" Mitch announced as I walked to the front door, to be greeted by Steph, and also Auston.

I decided it would be best if I drove, my vehicle was fast and I knew how to drive around the traffic of Toronto.

We were pulling into the parking lot with Starbucks and some idiot almost backed into me. I honked my horn.

"What the fuck are you doing buddy?" I rolled my eyes.

I heard eruptions of laughter coming from my back seat.

"Did I say something?" I asked, confused

"Buddy" Auston said, still laughing

I looked at Mitch and Steph who were just as confused as me.

"Oh come on guys! She sounded so Canadian right there you can't not laugh at it!" Auston continued laughing, Steph giggled and Mitch began laughing along with Auston

"Yeah he's right!" Mitch giggled.

We ordered our drinks, I got my favourite drink ever, a venti iced caramel macchiato, I needed it at this point, I was exhausted and the caffeine and sugar would give me just enough energy to get to the plane and get flying.

We met all of the guys and Sydney and Lex at the airport and we all got on the plane, the girls decided to sit together at the back and gossip, the boys sat closer to the front, they were mostly quiet, listening to music and doing whatever they were doing.

At the hotel I was the last person to get checked in but Mitch, Steph and Auston waited for me. It was a really nice modern hotel that we were staying in.

"Hey Steph can you take my spare key in case I lock myself out?" I asked Steph sweetly

"Of course I will!" She smiled at me

Our rooms were all on the same floor, so we rode the elevator together and then found where we would be staying. My room was really nice, it had a great view of Chicago.

I put some of the nice dresses I brought with me up on hangers and I took my shoes out of the bag I brought them in and lined them up at the bottom of my closet. I know we're only staying here for two nights but I wanted to make it as homey feeling as possible.

Everyone met up and went for lunch, and then the girls split from the boys to go shopping. Once again I ended up buying a ton of stuff, to be fair, the girls kept telling me I looked hot in everything I tried on so I had to buy them. If I look hot and feel hot then it's gotta come home with me.

"Holy shit! What did you girls buy?" Conner Brown exclaimed when we walked into the hotel lobby, he must have been waiting there for a little bit because he jumped to his feet when he saw us.

We all laughed, we did actually buy a lot of stuff.

"So the boys came up with a plan and we're gonna go have supper at some fancy restaurant tonight, so you girls go get ready! We are all going to meet in the lobby at 7:00 sharp!"

We all went our separate ways. I began getting ready and finished up at 6:50, and I quickly made my way down to the lobby. I was wearing a tight black dress and lace up heels with silver and sparkly jewelry.

"Wooo!" I heard Sydney whistle

"Hottie alert!" Lex exclaimed when I walked into the lobby.

I smiled and I saw Auston turn around and smirk at me. He looked really good too, he was wearing a suit, his hair was perfectly styled, I was probably drooling over the sight of him.

We began our walk to the restaurant. The boys with girlfriends walked hand in hand with them, the rest of the boys at the front, I stayed back and admired the bonds between everyone. They were all so close, like a big happy family.
