Chapter Six: Disapproval and Straightening
•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••Unknown POV
She was beautiful. She was the first and only girl in this teeming and loud building that I noticed--heck, she was the first person I actually payed attention to and noticed. And I knew she noticed me too.
Anna. That's what the teacher had called out while taking the attendance and she had raised her hand. She had looked over at me a couple of times but quickly turned back to look at the front of the room.
Anna. She was too special to let out of my sight.

Incubus' POV
The dark was returning and the familiar cold wind and night creatures started to crawl out. I looked over head as I walked down the empty and always silent street. The sky was turning a rosy pink, the moon slightly showing itself in the still slimly bright sky and the stars twinkling out with it. It would be a spectacular scene to any other person or creature, but to me, it was horrible and I hated the sight. I sighed and ducked under the multiple trees that grew along a sidewalk just to get away from the sight of the 'pretty pink' twilight sky.
The canopy of trees blocked the remaining sunlight, the colourful leaves that were painted with the patterns of fall being illuminated by the stream of light the sun left. Soon it would be the moon creating different, abstract shadows on the sidewalk of the leaves. Right now, the leaves were just a bit more defined with the light of the sun. The gold from the fall leaves looking like it was glowing, the red seeming like it was ablaze; a fire. Fall was my favourite season and then winter...I guess it was the reason that everything was dying.
I followed the sidewalk to wherever it led me--to whom ever it led me to. That would be a 'fun' way of finding my next, new victim, or one of my already claimed victims, to haunt tonight. It would almost be like a sick, sarcastic but enjoyable game--for me.
I walked and walked. Strolled here and there, lost in my own thoughts of my past and my present and of tonight. Soon enough, Starlight had bought out the stars and Luna had bought out a large, pale moon; a full moon. That meant fun. That meant anything could happen tonight and there would be no consequences. That meant I could finally proceed to do what I've always wanted to do and not have to deal with the punishments from the Devil (he advised I never do it).
Take a daydream. Steal and haunt and torture a victim while they were wide awake. It was dangerous and cruel, but now, I felt nothing so I didn't care. I would do this. And the Devil couldn't stop me from doing it.
Tonight, I was showing everyone: my victims, Starlight and Luna and even the damned Devil, what I was made up of. You'd think that since the Devil was so evil he would encourage it, but he was a softy--I was probably more cruel than him. Well, I guess we would see about that tonight. We would see what your beautiful creation can become: Taunting and ruthless. Daring and deadly.
Menacing, was what Starlight told me that the Devil wanted to call me. He knew from the moment he had formed me, that I had his spirit inside of myself. The darkness that still plagued him; the darkness that had caused him to fall out of heaven and the one that he tries to hide from us. Well tonight everyone would see what the Devils darker side was like.

The next day
It was all a blur. A stupid blur! I couldn't seem to remember anything that happened the night before. Everything I did, everyone I met, was a faded smudge in my memory. The only time I actually wanted to see what I was capable of, of how scary and destructive I could be, was the time I seemed to remember nothing. How fantastic...and now, Luna and Starlight, like responsible parents, expected me to go to the stupid mundane world again. The world with sunlight and people smiling...
It was like I was hungover. I had a terrible headache that pounded away ruthlessly in my skull. It felt like there were cotton balls in my brain, fuzzing everything up. I had sore, red-rimmed eyes that couldn't decipher the world properly; everything was a smudge. I just felt like I fell from a ten storey building.
"Incubus..." I distantly hear the sound of Luna's calming yet stern voice and make a shooing gesture with my hand to tell her to leave. She doesn't.
"I feel...sick. I feel hungover. My head hurts and so do my eyes." I pull a string of complaints and list them to Luna. I pop one if my red eyes open and see Luna standing in front if me; on the side if my bed, with her hands on her hip. "I feel like I fell off of a ten storey building." I add just as an extra compliant. Maybe she'll let me loose.
"That's because you did!" She says to me, surprising me and making me lift my heavy head off of my pillow; half of it was off the side of the bed along with my leg.
I stare up at her pale but healthy face. She looked down at me with her unique eyes as I stared up at her with my own. She had the greyest yet brightest eyes, like the seas on the moon. She had the straightest and lightest hair...that she threw over her shoulder in frustration while waiting for a reply from me.
"Uh," was all I got out before she pulled out my pillow from my bed and hit me in the head with it.
"Incubus, you need to go--"she was going to start urging and pestering me again with the same topic. I hate the human world but I loved it at nighttime when all them were asleep and less loud and annoying. When they were at their most vulnerable.
"It's alright, Luna." I heard Starlights voice as he came in from behind Luna's figure, in through my door and into my messy, dark room. "I talked to him, and he said he heard about what Incubus did and allowed him to stay home." Starlight informed her and I sighed, loudly in relief. Luna, who was turned around, looking at Starlight, had turned back around and faced me, giving me her grey eyed, 'white-hair-thrown-over-her-shoulder-in-sass', look. She was like a pestering mother to me most of the time, but sometimes it seemed like she turned into a annoying older sibling.
I grinned devilishly at her, snatched my pillow back from her grip and dropped my head onto it.
"I think we're done here, Luna." I tell her almost matter-of-factly, my eyes closed and my mouth turned up in the corners into a evil smile. I don't see her but I feel her anger as she gets proven wrong and she smacks me on my back and leaves. I chuckle and still feel Starlights presence in my dim, blue room. I opened and peaked out from my left eye at Starlight. He was standing there looking down at me with disapproval and amusement twinkling in his starry eyes. He had yellow-golden eyes, the colour of the stars you see at night. His blonde hair, unlike Luna's wasn't almost white. His hair was actually almost yellow. Like he had dyed it. We were very unusual and characteristically unique.
I lift my head and prop it on my hand. Looking up at Starlight and seeing the dominating discontent but slim and sparkling laughter in his eyes, I just had to make a face at him and make him laugh. He chuckled at me but soon got serious again.
"Incubus, what you did yesterday night was terrible--"
"Wow, that's great, I was going for that. I guess I did really well.'
"--and you need to know your responsibilities and the consequences your actions will cost you." Starlight finishes off. I sigh and look down at my hand, following the purple and blue and green veins that run along the back of it.
"Go to sleep. You look like you're high." Starlight says to me and I look up at his face, from my pale hand, to see he was smiling. "I'll explain everything to you later." He gratefully, unlike demanding, motherly Luna, lets me off the hook--for now.
But until the moment I have to wake up, I'll be creating my own dreams.
