Chapter Thirty-Five: Free...?
•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••Anna's POV
I had no idea what was going on. I could only see Andrew beside me, staring grimly and smugly at the empty stage. All around us was emptiness, darkness, though that's not what it seemed like. I could feel a breeze pass by me as if someone or something had walked right past me and it made me feel more frightened than I already was.
The presence of Andrew made me cringe and fill me with hatred, yet I still stayed close to him, nevertheless, because of the impending feeling of floating in empty space that scared me. There were things here, things that were probably more scary than Andrew. Actually, scratch that, there were things here that were more willing to rip me open than Andrew was. Yet again, who knew? What if he was itching to do that right this moment too?
Then, suddenly, a stage light shone upon a throne that seemed to be held up by human bones and then we heard a deep, bellowing voice. It didn't sound scary, it sounded more like my dad when he got frustrated with his favourite hockey team. Yet again, it made me shiver especially seeing that this person was the one in charge of the creepy Hell-hole. They had to be scary, right?
But before the person could come out and step onto the stage, something happened. Something happened to the whole hall that were standing in, and all of sudden, there was a bright light and then, nothing. Nothing because I had fallen into unconsciousness because the light had been so blinding.
I might've considered myself dead.
I was so easily taken away and replaced into another environment that I didn't even bother being surprised. I wonder what had taken ahold of me now and what they planned on doing to me.

Incubus' POV
We had been simply standing and waiting there, for the bastard Devil to come out already and show himself when a stupid 'light' came shining down on our dark little hole, and stole Anna away from our devious grasp.
It had been that easy for them.
Well, great. I had to get her back now.

Anna's POV
I woke to treetops swaying in the wind and birds tweeting and chirping in the distance.
My first thought after I had woken up had been, 'I'm glad I'm no longer down there.' I had to admit though, there was a feeling, a sense in me that sort of liked the feeling of the darkness and the ghastliness that had been present down there. I don't know where exactly 'down there' was, but I was guessing it wasn't in our world.
But I also suppose that everyone somehow liked the darkness. For some, it held their secrets and for others it hid their true identities and their lies and mistakes; their imperfectness, their sins. And they preferred and suited it be that way.
Everyone had something to hide. And clearly, so did Andrew.
Sitting up on my hands, I looked around myself and instantly recognized where I was now. The meadow where 'this' all had begun. Though, thankfully it was empty of yellow-eyed people and dead humans.
I stood up, holding into a nearby tree to keep myself from falling down. There was an air about this meadow, all of a sudden, that seemed to spark something within myself. It almost seemed as if something deeply burrowed within my body had finally woken up and wanted out.
I did not like the feeling.
A sharp pain blossomed within my abdomen and I bent over, gasping for my breath and willing for the sudden pain to end. I didn't understand what was yapping to me. I could literally feel the pain moving up from my abdomen and to my shoulder blades. It stayed there for what seemed like hours and what was probably only a few but long moments. It pained even after the stinging and burning sensation had left.
Hunching over, like I had a hunched back, I started sluggishly walking away from the meadow and to the only place I actually felt safe. Home.

I reached the front door to my house. It was empty, I could already tell. My dad was probably still at the station, not bothering checking up on me because he knew I could take care of myself. Which was now basically a lie.
The pain that I had felt earlier had decreased immensely though I could still feel a throbbing pain in my shoulder blades. I was still slightly hunched over and I bent down to pick up the house key that I hid in the flower pot beside the front door.
The plant was dying, just as everything else in the world was right now, and the thin greying stick that had once been the lively, green stem of the flower and the pale, dead leaves reminded me of a dead body and I shuddered.
Opening the front door, I almost fell into the foyer of our house. I shut the door behind me, listening for the resounding and satisfying click as the lock slide into place.
I slouched against the cold door. The wind outside was starting to pick up and I could hear the sound of it, howling like a ghost. The house was getting dimmer but I couldn't have cared less. I had probably sat there, in my fall jacket, jeans and shoes, for the rest f the day because I started when the for behind me jerked as if someone was trying to open it.
Scrambling to my aching feet, I faced the door and grabbed the coat rack that stood just in the corner, behind the door. I held it like a spear, waiting and almost wanting the other person to open the door and come inside so I could attack with all the force and adrenaline that was running through my veins.
The door creaked open slightly and I held my breath. The person that was trying to get in, finally threw the door open fully, traveling himself. I let out my breath. It was just my dad.
"Anna!" he yelled, clearly bewildered by my actions. "What the hell--!" He stopped short of chewing me out and dropped the his keys on the floor and closed the door behind him. He came over to me and took me in his arms. The smell of the cold outside air clung to him and made me relax.
"What happened?"
