Part Two--Chapter Seven: Meeting
•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••Incubus' POV
It wasn't like the last time I had been here with Starlight. It was darker (last time there had been torches at intervals that lit the way) and there were also drowned out screams and whispers. It was like walking through a mental asylum with patients that screamed and whispered dreadful things in your ears. I was a night demon--probably the most scariest thing in the human world (besides the Devil)--and I was freaked out by the whispers.
Luna clutched my arm and stayed close to me while we walked through the dark passage. Now I was the one leading us. I was haunted by the noises but didn't show it. When a grimy, bloody and mangled arm reached out from the wall and tried to grab hold of me, it's howls showing Luna and I how tormented it was, Luna had grabbed me and pulled me away, tucking my head in the nook where he shoulder met her neck, like a soothing mother. I rolled my eyes and pulled away from her hand that was patting and smoothing out my messy blonde hair. There was no way I was letting her baby me.
We walked past the arm and towards the reddish glow that had emanated and shone from the end of this tunnel. It was just like what humans said when they either had a near-death experience and lived to tell the story of 'the light at the end of the tunnel' or when they died and their souls were set free from hell or they escaped.
"I guess all those people who had a near-death experience and told everyone about 'the light at the end of the tunnel' story were coming here." I joked with Luna who was staring straight ahead. She looked down at me (she was half a head taller than me with her super-high heels), clearly not wanting to joke about something like this. I shrugged but kept the smirk on my face until we reached the end if the tunnel and were right in front of the veil of light.
I did remember this part from the last time Starlight had bought me here. We had to speak with the guard demon on the other side of the veil of light and tell him that we had an 'appointment' with the Devil and weren't actually dead.
"It's Luna and Incubus, the two night demons and the Devil wants to speak with--Incubus." Luna told the silent guard on the other side and he immediately lifted the veil and let us through without a word. He bowed his head at us in respect (I'm guessing), and let us walk forward. I suppose Starlight and I could've just done that last time instead of arguing with the guard...
Luna and I walked through the veil and across the long expanse of red sand dunes. Well I guess it was sand...
There was a giant, wooden door (which was also red--a deep dark red) and Luna knocked on it. I didn't remember any of this, but I suppose Luna knew. We waited for the doors to open and when they did, we stepped inside and were clouded with the stench of decaying and sulfur.
Trench demons.
They were the types of demons that were like Ravener--Ravener was a Trench Demon. They had the characteristics of the cartoon demons that you would see on a children show like Bugs Bunny. They had long, spiked or forked tails and leathery wings. They were bony and you could see their internal organs and they had all black eyes or ones like Ravener--cat eyes. They reeked of a disgusting dying, rabid, flea infested, shot-in-the-brains type of smell; they smelt like the decaying dead. They were called Trench Demons because they belonged in a trench.
There were many other types if demons, Luna, Starlight and I being the only ones who had human forms and didn't smell like garbage. There were Trench demons, Underworld demons, anger demons, ego demons and the classic: Possession demons. There were many more, all of them were to do with human emotions that would lead the humans to Hell. From their name, you could tell that the possession demons were the black eyed demons who could take over a human or animal body. They were the ones that would possess you and you would become their slaves--in your own body.
I looked around. Luna and I were now in a vast, slightly crowded room. The room, to me, looked like something out of a opera house. It had a large, sparkling chandelier and rows if seats, though none of the trench, underworld, possession, anger or ego or depression (etc.) demons took seats. They were all either flying in the air or limping or hissing at one another. It was sort of something out if a horror movie.
Luna took my hand, flipped her silvery-white hair over her shoulder and led me through the room, to the other side. All the demons stopped talking, or hissing, and watched us. The whole room was so silent, we could hear the distant screams and howls that Luna and I had heard before. I am now guessing that they were the screams and howls of those souls that were now going to be tortured till the end of time.
"Ah, my children, my most prized creations." We all heard a booming voice bellow out. None of us could see who was speaking, though I knew right away the Luna and I already found out. It was him.
"No offence to any of you other demons, its just...I like my night demons better." The Devil stated but the other demons were either too stupid to understand or didn't show that they hated and envied us.
The Devil still didn't show himself as he called me over, up onto the platform that was there, to speak to him. From what Starlight told me (and from what I had seen), the Devil loved to 'dress up'--in new skin. He liked to change his profile and the last and first time I met him, he had been in the skin of John Lennon. Yes, I know, hilarious, and it was super hard for me to try not to laugh at the hippie Devil as he had spoken to me seriously.
"Prince of the Night," my hidden creator called me. I walked further into the platform and closer to where his voice was coming from: behind the deep red stage curtain. Why was the Devils lair like a opera house? I guess he liked to change the appearance of his lair too because last time it actually looked like Hell, with its fiery hills, screaming souls and flying, grinning demons as they tortured the souls of the damned.
Now it looked pathetic and fun--which Hell was not supposed to look like!
I walked past the curtain and into the darkness that was behind it. It wasn't that dark that I couldn't see at all, and I had spotted the Devil, my creator, sitting on his...throne of human bones, beckoning and smiling for me to come closer. He actually looked like a caring father...and right now he had taken on the face of... Mr. Thompson, my recent victim that I had managed to make crazy.
Smirking evilly, I strolled over to him and sat down in a chair that was also made out of some bones. It was slightly disgusting but I was thankful that I wasn't sitting right on top of the bones and that there was a hide of some animal blocking the gross bones from touching me.
"So, Incubus, I heard you've been bad. You've been making me proud." The Devil grinned like a cat, his--Mr. Thompson's--dull blue eyes sparkling at me with deviousness and a sense of ruthless danger. I widened my fanged smirk and looked him right in the eyes as he started to tell me of a plan that he had come up with. A plan to salvage the demon race and to be held up against Heaven. We needed a girl. Anna. She was special, one of Heavens' angel. And the best part was, she was one of my favourite victims and she didn't even know it.
