Chapter Thrirty-Four: All Hail And Fail
•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

Anna's POV

When I next opened my eyes again, we were no longer in the street. We were probably not even in town. Hell it didn't even look like we were on the earth!

The atmosphere was dark, but it wasn't exactly dark dark. There was light but it was dim and clouded. The air seemed like it was dead. Everything here had a tiny of either black or red. The sand beneath our feet looked like it was tinged with red and the rocks were black.

What alien planet were we on?

Looking around I realized besides Andrew and me, the sand and the rocks the scene was barren. It sounded like there was a crowd screaming somewhere but I couldn't see anyone, though it seemed like Andrew could. He walked over to nowhere in particular and leaned to side as if someone was whispering a secret into his ear. He grinned and walked back over to me.

"Come on," he jerked his head over to the gigantic wooden door that had randomly and suddenly appeared a few feet ahead of us. I swear it wasn't there before.

Like the rest of this place, it was red and black. The only difference was that it had hints of gold in the door and also had a grinning devilish face with horns. Wow, how humorous.

Andrew whispered something in the same hissing language I had heard officer Darwin speak and the door creaked wide open. I couldn't see anything inside because all I saw was black. But, again, Andrew seemed to see things that I couldn't and he walked right into the darkness without waiting for me. But it wasn't like I wanted him to wait for me and hold me hand and lead me into the darkness. He was the one who had got me here in the first place.

I took a deep breath and did something that would probably end my life as innocent Anna forever.

I walked into the awaiting darkness.

Incubus' POV

I didn't wait for Anna and strolled straight into the hall filled with the million souls of the damned and also demons.

Watching her from the other side of the door, I was surprised when she only hesitated for a moment before stepping onto the other side of the door of what, to her, would only look like shadows.

She was standing directly in front of me now and she blinked multiple times, her human eyes adjusting to the dimness in the hall and also recognizing the different dimensional matter: us demons.

Once her eyes had fixated, she solemnly stared at me, shock, anger and fright still displaying all over her features. It made me feel like what I am: a demon, and I liked it.

The hall was filled with whispering, howling and hissing, all of which I could understand but Anna couldn't. That was good because right now all everyone was talking about was how nice it would be if they could get a hold of her soul and take it.

Her soul was precious, pure and different, yet it was also like every other human's soul. Souls like hers were not that rare and I don't quite understand why, out of all the other souls like hers, the Devil chose this one. Was it because she was young, naive and innocent and being the evil guy he was, he wanted to ruin and destroy her it? I would know why he might want to do that. It was just so tempting and alluring to damage her soul. If anything, Anna was the one in control here. Out of all the demons and souls, she was the one controlling us, teasing us with her goodness and practically inviting us to erase everything about her morality.

Every single soul stopped and stared as Anna looked at me with big eyes but nevertheless walked towards me hesitantly. I knew she didn't trust me or want to be near me, but she rather be close to me than be out in the open darkness because she couldn't see the demons eyeing her. She could feel their heavy presence and was now frightened by the largeness of it.

She stood only a foot away from me, gazing intently and cautiously into the darkness she could see and into the eyes of the demons I could see. They all stared back and followed her every movement like she was ice cream and they were a bunch of little kids. She amused and amazed them, just as she had me, when I first met her. Now, all I saw was another human being with a little extra wit and soul (literally) that needed to be possessed or controlled directly, or indirectly, by us, the supernatural.

I didn't wait around any longer and took her wrist and started tugging her froward, only making sure that she didn't bump into any of the demons.

The hall was like an opera theatre. It was grand to the point of almost being over-the-top, but it was dim, musty and held a darkness that I liked. I dragged her up to the front of the empty stage and waited. I knew he would come out soon.

All the while, Anna stood by me, silent and watching. I could sense the impending fear and awe she was strongly feeling. It was almost consuming. She looked over her shoulders and up to the ceiling where nothing else but dark shadows of damned souls floated. I guess this was going to be big.

Suddenly, the red velvet curtains drew apart, by no force in particular, and in the centre of the stage stood nothing else but a large, menacing throne which was embroidered with leather, skulls and on the back and along the top, jagged, pointed spikes. A spotlight went on and shone on the one place the empty throne awaited to be seated on. I smirked. Oh how he loved drama and intensity. What a geek.

And then, "Welcome, Anna."

And all Hell broke loose as shrieks and howls filled the haunted air and made Anna snap her head back and forth searching for the millions of demons that created the mayhem and that she couldn't see.

And I stood there, beside her, watching her, knowing that she was going to fall apart and loose her precious little mind so easily.
