Applejack was rudely awakened by a hand smacking her square in the face and screaming. Her eyes flew up. What the heck??
"PLEASE STOP!! IM SORRY. LET ME GO!!"
She quickly sat up in bed. She snapped on her beside lamp, turning to face her lover, Rainbow Dash, who was laying beside her. She could see her form in the dark. She was thrashing and kicking. Her movements caused her part of the blanket to be thrown off her body. Her screams of terror rang out.
Applejack immediately knew what was happening when Rainbow continued to fight an invisible person, her eyes still closed. She immediately yanked the covers off her body, getting on her knees, leaning over Rainbow's thrashing body.
She began to shake Rainbow awake.
"WAKE UP, RAINBOW. YOU'RE DREAMING!!" She hollered over Rainbow's screaming.
"DAD!! I'M SORRY. STOP!!", Rainbow begged, tears running down her face.
Applejack continued to shake her, calling her name.
"Rainbow. Wake up!."
Rainbow shot up with a scream, making Applejack fly back in surprise. Rainbow sits up, eyes wide. She pants, beads of sweat coating her cyan skin. Rainbow's like that for a few seconds, looking around. She then notices Applejack's presence. She turns her head away, embarrassed of her display of fear.
Rainbow lays down, curling up. She covers her face with her hands and begins to sob. Heart wrenching sobs that make Applejack's heart ache.
"Baby." She said, not quite sure how to approach the distraught and traumatized teen.
Rainbow shook her head, her sobs continuing.
Applejack crawled over to her. She sits down beside Rainbow Dash, already knowing what to do in that situation.
AJ wraps her arms around Rainbow Dash and pulls Rainbow up so she's sitting. She embraced Rainbow Dash, hugging her tightly to let her know she's there and not just a dream.
Rainbow immediately responded. She laid her head on AJ's chest, continuing to sob.
Applejack sat there, rubbing her back, pressing kisses to Rainbow's temple and the top of her head. She holds her securely, acting as a lifeline for Rainbow Dash. Someone that brings her mind back in the real world. She listens to Rainbow sob uncontrollably. She could whisper sweet words of comfort in her ear, hoping to calm her down enough to talk.
"A-Applej-jack."
Rainbow sounded so small and broken and afraid. Not at all like her normal laid back, brave, 'I can do anything' attitude. This was side only Applejack was allowed to see. Especially on nights like this where Rainbow woke up screaming in terror from a dream of the man that caused her so much pain and fear.
"Yes, Baby??." She said, using the nickname she had for her that Rainbow claimed she hated in public, but secretly liked it.
Rainbow sniffled. "I'm scared."
That sentence made Applejack's heart break.
"You wanna talk about yir dream??"
Rainbow sniffled again, her nose and eyes pink.
"My dad. He-"
Rainbow paused, getting a little emotional just mentioning the man.
"Take yir time, RD." Applejack said softly. "We can stay up all light talking if ya need ta."
