Applejack stared at the tv. She smiled, watching the stupid talking sponge ride a jellyfish. Oh Spongebob. Weird as always.
AJ glanced at Rainbow Dash. The girl was sitting quietly, holding her hand, reading one the comic books her uncle had brought for her from the house a few hours after they got to the hospital, along with some things like clothes (some of which were Applejack's shirts since it always calmed Rainbow down when smelling AJ's scent on her clothes), socks, her toothbrush, toothpaste, hairbrush, and anything else she'd need to use in the morning. Applejack's dad brought some things for AJ since she would be with Rainbow for her entire stay at the hospital.
Twilight was sitting on the other side of the bed, reading one of her books that she always carried around with her. Pinkie, Sunset, Rarity, and Fluttershy were sitting around, watching tv, going online, or whatever. AJ was grateful that they all stayed with her. With Rainbow becoming mute, AJ was glad to hear a familiar voice. Rainbow didn't speak to anyone that day. No one pushed her to talk.
It was for the best. She'd come around in her own time.
Applejack squeezed Rainbow's hand. Rainbow looked at her.
"Hey." AJ whispered. "How's that book??. Good??."
Rainbow nodded.
"Ah love you." AJ cooed, nudging her with her arm.
Rainbow smiled a little, but said nothing.
She pointed at herself, made a heart with her hands as best she could with the IV in her left hand. Then she pointed at Applejack and then put up two fingers.
"Can you two stop being so sickeningly cute??." Sunset teased.
The two lovers looked at her.
"Jealous." Applejack stuck her tongue out at Sunset.
Sunset grinned. "As if."
Applejack laughed.
There was a soft knock on the door. The girls looked at the doorway. The glass door slid open. A female doctor walked in. She put some hand sanitizer on, rubbing her hands together, smiling.
"Hi. Are you Rainbow Dash??."
Rainbow nodded. The girls back up, giving the doctor some space. The director walked up to Rainbow Dash.
"So I'm part of the child psychology research team. And we've talked about you and what happened and what the therapist talked to you about."
Rainbow nodded.
"She told me about what you told her, if you understand what I'm talking about. I won't say it out loud if you don't want me to. Do you know what I'm hinting at??."
Rainbow thought for a moment. Then she deflated a little and nodded, her eyes looking at the blanket. The doctor nodded.
"Now. I'm just here for a physical exam. Is that alright with you??."
Rainbow tensed up. Like a child, she grabbed Applejack's arm, holding on tightly to her girlfriend for dear life.
"Rainbow, it's okay." AJ said. "She won't hurt cha. She just wants ta make sure your body is alright and make sure you didn't get damaged anywhere. She'a gonna help you feel better."
