Blurred street lights

Grey stumbles slightly on the curb, giving me a jolt when a car wizzes past at top speed. After herding her into the passenger side I start the van, a slight rain starting to patter on the windshield. I take a sideways glance and notice how the street lights are highlighting her cheek bones, giving her a model like beauty.  She catches my stare and I quickly turn my gaze back to the road, embarrassed to say the least.

"S-so, any hobbies Grey-ah?"

I rake my hair back, making eye contact with her in the mirror.

"Hobbies...I like, I like singing...I like, movies..."

"Oh what's your favorite movie?"

I smile, finally achieving a real conversation with Grey.

"Hmm...Wolverine?"

I wouldn't peg Grey as a superhero fan, but I think it's the most information I've ever gotten out of her willingly.

"Ah, you like Pirates of the Caribbean?"

"Sure, I've never seen it though."

The silence returns and I cough, trying to disperse the clingy awkward quiet.

"Grey-ah, you really don't have to leave.  We, we actually quite like having you around."

Grey snorts, picking at her nails.  The silence returns, and I focus on the road instead of the awkwardness.

"No you don't."

She mutters, quiet enough I doubt she meant for me to hear.  I glance over quickly to see her eyes are shining with unshed tears as she chews on her knuckles, a nervous habit we've all noticed.  I'm stuck for what to say so I resolve to just drive, flicking the wiper blades onto high.   Lost in my thoughts I think about the last time we went clubbing, deciding to share a memory with my half asleep passenger.

"I remember the last time I got drunk, we were at this great club and Chanyeol and I were watching the performance.  She was amazing!  And then, well, Chanyeol obviously found someone to go home with and I was left at the bar, and then..."

I realize my memory is foggy after that, and I blame it on the alcohol.  I jump slightly when Grey speaks up.

"you were quite drunk, and I had to take you home."

"No...no we hadn't met yet.  This was before you became an idol."

Grey sighs, slouching even more in the seat.

"It was a blond, the performer from that night. The girl who saved you from the low-life's beating you up."

I shake my head, flipping my turn indicator on. Her version seems strangely familiar and I scrunch up my nose while I think, trying to pull my memory out of thick fog.

"I drove you home on my bike, you wore my helmet-"

*Flashback*

Luhan, Chanyeol, why does everyone leave?

I shove open the back door, the party noise too loud for me to handle. Not even seconds after I'm outside I hear footsteps and stiffen, praying it isn't a fan. Instead a middle aged man and some other guys surround me, jabbing fingers into me. I lash out, scrapping the leader with my nails. Before I can run away I'm grabbed and tossed against the wall, my head snapping backwards before I collapse.

"Hey!"

Stars dance beneath my eyelids, my ears picking up on the sounds of swift punches and kicks. Blurry shapes take form as I blink away the fuzziness in my vision, a really tall girl coming into view. She seems about to leave, the man and his friends knocked out on the ground, so I grab her arm. She whirls around and, her eyes, they're crazy.

"Don't hurt me!"

I yell, my hands flying up in front of my face. Through my fingers I see the glowing ring of red intensify before she shakes her head, it fading in an instant.

"Who are you?"

She asks, and I try to sniffle out an answer.

"I'm-I used to be Luhan's f-friend a-and Chanyeol he, he left me at the, the bar..."

I hear her mutter 'whatever' before stalking away, her heels clicking on the dirty ground.

"Wait you c-can't leave m-me!"

I choke out, before curling into a ball. Usually I'm so strong and I try to be happy for everyone else, but I just, I can't do it...

"Oh no you don't.  Don't you dare guilt me into taking care of a drunk.  I'm busy tonight."

I sniffle, holding my arm and wondering how I'm going to get back home. My uninjured arm is roughly grabbed and I'm hauled to my feet, then dragged out of the alley way. I try to figure out what's going on, but a helmet is jammed onto my head and startles me out of my thoughts.

"Get on."

She sighs wearily, revving the engine of a motor bike?

A motor bike!

I jump on, wrapping my arms around her stomach and placing my head on her shoulder, the helmet startling me.

"This isn't cuddle time.  I'll drive you to wherever you live and drop you off.  Let's hope you have someone to take care of you there."

I nod and explain how to get to the dorms, pressing my body into hers for extra warmth. We race through the streets and the lights blur before my eyes, bringing a rush of fear and excitement as I forget about everything else. It seems like we reach the dorms far too quickly and I hit her back with my fists until she slows down and turns into the small side alley. The helmet is yanked off of my head and I stay seated for a minute until the dizziness subsides. Everyone must be wondering where I am by now, so I wave good bye to my mysterious heroine and head inside.

"Holy, shit."

mutter under my breath. Grey has fallen asleep and I have to force myself to keep my eyes on the road, questions swarming my mind. I must've imagined the whole red eye thing right? And how quickly she fought off those men, girls can be strong maybe I'm just not giving her enough credit! Yeah, must be. And, maybe they were colored contacts! Er, that magically disappeared. Right. Maybe Chanyeol will have some advice.

(Hey how's it going? Does Chanyeol know anything? ~Ren)
