The Lost Series (A Doctor Who fanfiction) - 'Episodes '1-4

'Episode' 2-mothballs part 8

The Doctor, with the bumbling Officer Jorn trailing behind, rushed down street after street. His excellent mind working just that bit faster than his legs. 

He just had to get back to the Tardis.....

but first, he needed to assure himself Kitty was okay.

He was heading towards where he had seen the cloud of Yulpee descend a few moments ago. Turning a corner the  low huming buzz of a sonic caught his attention.

"Doctor!" 

It was Kitty- a relieved grin spread across his face. Glad his new found friend had not become a yulpee meal-or rather snack, as she was a little on the small side. The grin was short lived as she rushed passed yelling something about ducks, waving her arm in the air whilst holding her sonic. Jerking the Doctor watched as all the street lights she ran passed glowed a hot white before making a 'pop' and dying out. 

He was about to take off after her before a tidal wave of low flying Yulpee whizzed passed him with a feirce whooosh, wings beating so fast they could hardly be seen. 

"Oh-she's clever!!" Grinned the Doctor as he readied himself to race after them. Then henoticed where it was she was heading. A flash of lightening brightening the grey sky- A telecom tower. "Too clever!" he added kicking off into a sprint. 

The Judoon gave an exasperated snort and lumbered into a heavy set jog after them. 

 She skidded on the wet pavement as she turned. The Yulpee following her like a herd of bewildered sheep as she waved her sonic around, it wasn't much but it was keeping their attention, she just had to stay ahead of them to avoid they're needle-like tongues that now and again flicked out.She halted  hard as she came up against a large metal fence.

"Damn it!" She hit at the fence, annoyed by such an inconvenient obstacle. The moment she did so the Yulpee lunged forward almost piercing her. She flattened herself to the metal just about avoiding the javalin end of a yulpee tongue. 

"Hey!" Came a shout and a few pieces of rubble flew in thier direction "Hey! Over here, you ugly oversized bugs!" Through the beating wings she saw two young teenage boys egging the Yulpee on "DON'T!" she warned but it was to late. One of them became a quick snack. Turning, Kitty stared up at the structure that stood a few meters behind the fence, almost gulping. The rain blurred her vision as the raindrops fell relentlessly. She hadn't realised just how tall that thing was. "How am I going to do this?" she gulped. Behind her the Yulpee crowded around agitated.  Her sonic shook a little in her grip.

"KITTY!" His voice was like a sudden ray of hope as the Doctor appeared around the corner. Soaking wet but still utterly unfathomably brilliant.

"Doctor!" she shouted back with a smile as the relief washed over her. They stood there for a moment looking at each other across the street, in the rain. The Doctor breathing heavily after his marathon sprint. 

"Sorry!" She shouted as she aimed her sonic at the street light above the Doctors head. 

The Yulpee instantly turning to the brightened light.

Immediatedly Kitty began climbing over the wire fence, pulling herself up and over the top.

"No-No-No!" The Doctor protested as he watched the unstoppable miss Welsh land neatly on the other side of the fence. The Yulpee scuttling around confused-as if coming out of a daze. Wings flapping unsurely. 

He weighed up his options-follow his plan or distract the yulpee...He went to run a hand through his hair to help him think faster but found nothing but flat rain soaked strands stuck to head. He ruffled it up a bit hoping the friction would stimulate some brilliant Idea.

The rain made the metal hard to grip as it stunted her vision. She was quite a way up now....'just a bit further' she kept telling herself. 

Luckily, thanks to the lightening, she saw the shadow before it struck.

A Yulpee honed in and tried a jab at her as she ducked. It's needle like tongue stuck temporarily in between the thin metal columns, it pulled away, her heart beating madly as she hurried as best she could to get to the top.

She wrapped her arms as tight as she could around the bars of the ladder as she paused, squeezing er eyes shut. She had always been terrified of heights and right now was not a good time for her legs to turn to jelly. She just needed to reach that light. Kitty could feel the yulpee, they were all around her, flapping madly, criss cross, creating a wind with their wings. She was almost able to touch their large furry bodies if she wanted. She stared at them mesmerised for a moment. Then with a sharp smack, a wing hit her, hard, causing her to slip and loose her grip. She tried to grab anything as she slipped down, just managing to keep a good grip with one hand. 

Heart hammering she pulled herself into a better position, knuckles white from her jolt of fear. 

A sharp tug on her ankle almost made her wet hands slip again.

"You!" She gasped looking down

Adam glared back up at her "You're meant to be DEAD!" He shouted back angrily, voice getting lost in the wind a little.

"Well.....Surprise!" she shouted back sarcastically kicked her leg free

Adam gripped her ankle, yanking her downwards sharply. "You and that damned Doctor-you're ruining EVERYTHING!" he snarled as he used her leg to pull himself up and draw level with her.

"Why are you even doing this?" she managed as she tried to steady herself

"So I can rid the world of irritating people like you-now give me that sonic!" he reached out trying to grab the sonic tucked safely in her pocket. She dodged him and begun to climb again-nearly there...

The rest of the climb was a battle, Adam right behind her grabbing her ankles, a few lingering Yulpee swarming closely around the tower. Finally she hoisted herself up onto a metal platform, the front of her clothes soaked through as she stood up. The wind was stronger up here as the rain fell sideways and the sky rumbled.

Adam appeared over the edge and hauled himself up, getting to his feet-ready to pounce on her. His eyes were red rimmed and he seemed gaunt and doubled over. Some slightly red blotches on his face.

"Give me that Sonic Kitty!" he growled as he stepped forward " give it to me, you can't stop this." 

"I can try!" she stated defiantly stepping back, behind her was a slim ladder leading up to the next platform and above that-the light she had been trying to reach.

"The Yulpee will just kill you!" he snarled "give me that sonic and I'll let you live."

Turning on her heel kitty bounded up the first few rungs of the ladder but again Adam gripped onto her with a painful squeeze, weighing her down. She struggled to stay clinging on to the ladder as he shouted "You have a nose for trouble- I didn't want to have to kill you-you should have stayed away!!" 

He grabbed her by the waist and pulled her sharply away from the ladder as she wriggled and kicked.She kicked him in the legs and thrashed around trying to break free as he shuffled towards the edge of the platform.

"Let me go!" she shrieked as she watched the edge getting closer and closer

"You shouldn't have sided with the Doctor!!"
