Louis' POV:
With regret I watched Abby's small silhouette disappear in the crowd and resisted the urge to knock my head against the wall. Instead I buried my face in my hands and took a deep breath. "Mate, what are you doing?" said Harry next to me. Reluctantly, I looked up and saw that Harry had moved into Abby's empty seat. "What?" I shot back, annoyed and looked over to Abby who had just taken a seat next to the dumbass who had sent her a drink. "Why did you push Abby away like this?" Harry asked in an accusing voice.
I laughed bitterly and tore my eyes away from Abby who was talking to the guy at the bar, smiling sweetly at him. "If you hadn't noticed, she wasn't exactly charming to me before and she seemed to enjoy his attention. Who am I to stand in the way of true love?" I added sarcastically. Harry sighed and gave me a sympathetic smile. "Lou, I get that she snapped at you but don't push her away just cos you're jealous of a guy neither of us know." He said wisely. My head shot up. "I'm not jealous!" I said through gritted teeth and glared at Harry. "Why does everyone keep saying that I am fucking jealous?!"
I shot another look at Abby and saw her laughing at something her new boyfriend had said. While I watched them, Abby looked over to where Harry and I were sitting and our eyes met. Quickly, I looked away and saw that Harry regarded me with a knowing expression. "Lou, you're my best friend. I can tell that you like Abby, even if you don't know it yet yourself." He said and smiled. His eyes wandered over to Abby. "And if you ask me, Abby likes you too or she wouldn't have reacted so jealous when she saw you and Amanda on the dance floor!" He added.
Harry ordered another drink while I stared down into my own glass absentmindedly and thought about what Harry's words. Was it possible that I was starting to develop feelings for Abby? After my break-up with Eleanor only a couple of months ago, I had promised myself that I would take some time to try to figure out what I want. And yet here I was, continuously staring at this beautiful young woman, who seemed to know me like nobody else, even though I had only met her a short while ago. Over the past weeks that I had known her, she had given me the chance to be myself again and everything felt just right whenever I was with her.
Next to me, Harry downed another shot and patted my back. "You'll figure it out, mate!" he said and got up. "Where are you going?" I asked him, not very keen on being left to sit by myself. "I need to talk to Lucy." Harry said and looked to the dance floor where Abby's friend was laughing with Niall and Liam. "She seems to have way too much fun with Nialler!" I smiled and watched Harry ruffle his already messy hair and walk towards the dance floor.
As I sat by myself I watched Abby down several drinks with the guy at the bar. Making up my mind, I pushed away the empty glass in front of me. If anyone was to make sure that Abby got home safely, I needed to stop drinking now or I'd end up pissed just like the rest of our group. After a few more minutes, I couldn't take it anymore and walked over to Abby.
"Abby?" She looked up and her face lit up in a smile. "Louis!" she cheered enthusiastically and I could tell that she was a lot more intoxicated then when we last spoke. "Look, Abby, I'm sorry about earlier! I was in no place to talk to you that way." I apologized and ignored the curious look on the guy next to her. Abby's smile faltered a little. "No, I'm sorry, Louis. I can be a cranky bitch sometimes!" she admitted, her words slightly slurred. I bit back a smile at her choice of words but felt relief wash over me.
