Chapter 7- Reunited

"Dad!!" Your grin stretched from ear to ear when you saw him.

"Haha hi honey pie! Oh dear, what happened to Adam?" He asked, his face contorted into concern. He moved aside and the two of you walked in.

"It's a long story involving some raiders. He'll be alright though." You nodded. You and Barney carried Adam inside the medical office and set him on the table. Your dad followed and stood by the table, watching while Barney and yourself hooked Adam up to a couple of monitors.

"So what brought you up again? Not that I'm not pleased to see you again." You asked your dad.

"Well, my settlement is having some trouble with super mutants. You got some tough guys here so I thought you could help us." He shrugged.

"Of course we can help you. I still have Max and Ross available, we can be ready by tomorrow morning." You agreed. He smiled and hugged you.

"Thanks sweetie, I knew we could count on you!" You patted his back and he pulled away, then straightened his shirt.

"You can stay in our room for the night. I think we have a spare mattress somewhere." You hummed and left Barney to tend to Adam. You made your way to the storage room and pulled out a dirty mattress and some pillows. After placing it in your room, next to your daughters bed you went upstairs. Feeling it would be best to tell Alesa about Adam, you approached her first.

"He got shot??" She gasped. You placed a hand on her shoulder.

"He's fine right now. Barney was able to get the bullet out, but Adam lost quite a bit of blood. He's fine now, just unconscious." You explained. She smiled slightly.

"Thanks (y/n). How long do you think he'll be out?" She asked.

"I would say sometime tomorrow he'll wake up." You nodded.

She thanked you again for being there and went to tell Mason, who was sitting by the window enjoying a comic. You didn't stay to watch, as you had to tell Ross and Max about your trip tomorrow.

"Awesome! We get to go see Jess and Jason!" Ross cheered.

"Ugh, super mutants?!" Max groaned. "Alright I guess." He obviously was not pleased with the enemy.

"Well pack your things, we're leaving with my dad in the morning." You instructed. They nodded and went to bed right after dinner.

The next morning came quickly and the four of you set out just as the sun began to rise. Lugging your bags on your backs, you all walked for about 2 hours and finally reached the small town. There was some obvious damage to the front gates and a couple buildings as well. As you all walked up to the large house, a guard welcomed you inside and called for President Aphmau.

"Ohmygosh!! (Y/n)! And Max and Ross! Hey guys!!" She squealed, running down the steps to hug each of you. "It's so great to see you guys again!!" You smiled back.

"Yeah, we heard you guys were having issues with mutants. So we came soon as possible." You replied.

"That's awesome! I'll introduce you guys to our fighters, but first come meet our new puppy! His name is Jet and he's a corgi!" She giggled, walking upstairs. You all followed her and sat on her couch, waiting for her to return with the sweet little pup. When she returned, she set down the corgi puppy in your lap first and you melted. He was just so freaking adorable. You held him to your chest and he licked at your face happily. You pet him and giggled. Once he started to squirm, you handed him off to Max who sat next to you. Then Jess sat down and began to talk business.
