The next morning at 6:55am, the kids were fed, had their bags, guns, and were ready to go on their first mission. You made them repeat the gun rules to you, and they did fine. Adam quizzed them on fighting techniques and they also did great. It was a last minute test that made you feel confident about the mission.

"Okay guys let's go. Adam and I lead while the kids stay in the middle, with Ross and Max behind them. Everyone weapons out and ready. Stay on guard at all times." You ordered. You opened the door once everyone was in position and left the tower.

After about half a mile of quiet walking, Adam spoke up.

"Are you sure they're ready?" He asked.

"Definitely. I have the perfect spot to take them too. There's hardly ever enemies there." Adam nodded. In about an hour, you all arrived at the beach.

"Here we are. Split up, Adam and I will look at this side of the beach while the four of you check out that small shack." You instructed them. They did as they were told, going down and walking cautiously inside the shack. You and Adam began searching the beach for any bottle caps or anything else helpful. You checked a boat with a broken hull, and found a small cooler with a Nuka-Cola, squirrel on a stick, and some caps.

It was a pretty small beach so it didn't take long to finish searching. Adam found a small bag with some caps in it, and the kids, Max, and Ross walked out of the shack toward you. Your daughter tried, and failed to contain her smile. When they reached you two she smiled fully.

"Guess what?? I killed a radroach!!" She punched the air triumphantly. You snickered and gave her a high five. "I did too!" Chimed in Mason. You also high fived him.

"Alright guys. Let's head back. Get in formation." You ordered. Just as that was happening, you felt the ground shake. You and Adam shared a look of fear and whipped your heads around to look for the source. Suddenly a Mirelurk sprang from the ground, and then two more behind it.

"Get back!!" You shouted, pulling out your weapon to start shooting. Ross pulled the kids behind him and backed away from the sandy area as the three of you each fought a Mirelurk.

Your Mirelurk rolled toward you unexpectedly and knocked you to the ground. You got back up and it lunged at you, grabbing your left arm in its grasp. Your gun fell to the ground, leaving you no choice but to grab your Machete and stab the creature's torso as it ripped and tore at your skin with its sharp, lobster-like claws. You shouted out in pain as it continued to make gashes and you twisted the knife, trying to conflict as much damage as possible so the creature would give up. With one last powerful twist, it jerked back and you yanked your machete out.

Everyone huddled close and you glanced down at your arm. It was pretty badly cut, and you knew you needed stitches or else you would bleed to death. Max cupped your face and repeated "It's gonna be alright..." over and over. He picked you up and Adam used a piece of bandage to wrap up your arm. He supported your arm while Max carried you back toward the tower. You could faintly hear your daughter and Mason crying behind you and Ross doing his best to comfort them. You closed your eyes and listened.

"Hey hey, guys don't be so blue. She's still got her other arm! Come on, its not that bad! Okay seriously guys? I know it looks scary, but doctor Barney will stitch her up as soon as we get to the tower! She's gonna be fine!" In your mind you could see him walking in between them, holding their hands and smiling sadly at their tear stained faces.

You wanted to say something to them, to comfort them. But instead, the darkness swept you away until you got set down on a table. You opened your eyes and saw the medical office.
