((Hey guys. Quick message. I just wanted to say I know now why I have issues losing interest in my stories. It's because I make them too long. I just keep writing chapter after chapter without any clear plot. So this changes now. I'll be ending this book soon, so if you want to see something particular happen, comment to let me know so it'll get in before the end of the story. I'm on winter break and I want to do a poll again to see what you guys want to read next. Start thinking about that as well. Sorry this was so long, thanks for reading it though! Love you guys!))
You weren't sure how long you stood there and stared at the old man, but he had to ask again. Almost as if you hadn't heard him.
"Would you like to be a courser?" He repeated. You still couldn't form any words at that point and started backing up slowly.
"Uhh...courser....um...that's a really nice offer but um, I'm going to have to get back to my team soon. They are probably worried about me." You made some awkward gestures with your hands and continued backing up toward the door.
"Don't get scared little bird. If you wanna leave, we'll let you. Just let me wipe your memory first." The courser coaxed. You stopped in place and he walked you back to the original room you showed up in. The guy teleported you both to the same spot in the commonwealth, used a small device to wipe your memory, and disappeared. You stood there for maybe 10, 15, or 20 minutes. Your brain had no idea what happened. There was just a big blank spot in your memory. You remembered telling Ross goodbye, killing some creatures for food, the blank spot, then here you were. You took a moment to find out where you were then began walking back toward the tower.
You made it halfway back when you saw Adam and Max scanning an area. They spotted you and jogged over.
"Oh my gosh, what happened? Are you okay?" Max asked frantically, pulling you into his arms and kissing your forehead.
"I uh...got lost." You answered uncertainly. At this they both gave you strange looks.
"Lost? You never get lost! You know the commonwealth like the back of your hand!" Adam chuckled.
"I don't know...something happened but my mind is blank. I can't remember." You sighed. The guys stared at you for a minute then ushered you forward.
"It's ok general, it'll come back to you I'm sure." Adam smiled.
"Yeah, let's get this food back to the tower." Max nodded. You three walked in silence and put the food away in the kitchen. As you were leaving the kitchen, Max stopped you.
"Hey come with me." He took your hand and towed you toward a conference room. You went inside and he sat next to you at the long table. "Sweetie, what's wrong? Do you remember anything at all from earlier?" He asked.
"UGH I don't know! It's just blank...like my memory was wiped! I was killing hounds and some guy saw me. That's all I remember..." you sighed, visibly frustrated with brows furrowed and all. Max placed a reassuring hand on top of yours.
"Honey it's okay. I'm sure it will come back to you...don't force it. I'm just glad you're okay." He smiled. You smiled back and hugged him. The rest of the night was normal. Eating something, tucking in your daughter, then going to bed yourself. Though something was still nagging at the back of your mind.
